Any CARB inspection passable downpipes
Hi everyone, I'm really new here and getting the lay of the land. I'm pretty familiar with CARB issues but I'm coming from an S4 where there were some interesting solutions to the exhaust downpipes. On the Audis, guys were retaining stock downpipes but essentially gutting the internal elements. Are there any 1er downpipes that people can recommend that will pass an inspection?

I could possible be wrong about this, but I have a feeling CARB isn't going to approve any aftermarket catted performance downpipe because they all suck compared to the stock cat in terms of emissions. If aftermarket dps didn't suck on emissions, they would
a) be ridiculously expensive due to all the precious metals required for a legit cat and b) not flow any better. |

Yeah I don't expect Carb approved. I'm asking about a pipe that will pass inspection. How can a smog tech be familiar with every oe part on every car ever?

They don't, but a carb identification number should be present on all aftermarket parts. With that said, the carb number is entered into a CA database for instance, and verified for legality and compliance with CA state regulations. But like most things in this world, it won't hold water, there is always a workaround 😜
