How to reconnect drainage hose for my evaporator?

My car has had a moldy smell that occurs after I turn my A/C off (but I leave the ventilation on to blow the moisture out). I finally took it to the indy to get this looked at and after inspecting the drainage hose and seeing if it was clogged or anything, they confirm it is clear. However, they're telling me the hose itself is not connected to the evaporator box so basically the moisture is not draining out of the car which is causing the moldy smell. They say this will be an expensive repair (for what it is) because there is quite a bit of labor involved to access that hose. Any advice here on how to connect this hose?

Would this be the part I should be looking for and trying to reconnect?

So it looks like it is connected to this whole assembly here. Does anyone know specifically where that is? What is best way to access?

The box does not actually connect to the hose, it sits on top of it. The hose clips into the sheet metal on the transmission tunnel, number 2 in the picture clips in on top of the tunnel, and the heater box butts up against it. If the hose became dislodged I think you can lower the back of the transmission, reach around it and get to the hose, but to get to number one would require removing the center console and possibly more.

Thanks, that's what the shop actually said they would need to do, lower the transmission but I didn't believe it was that hard! Sounds like it is though. What a pain in the ass.......

Yea, its really not as big of a job as it sounds.. just a little bit of a PITA. It's unusual for them to come out of there, but I have seen it one other time on an X3... the carpet around the front of the center console under the dash gets wet
