480+ rwkw ... that's going to trap well over 140 MPH. That can be tested at the big black dyno with an easy launch sparing drivetrain. Hard launch or soft launch, makes very little difference to trap speed.

Look forward to the first 9 second passes nudging 150 MPH.

Getting enough tyre to run a 9 under the back of a stock body 135i is going to be a challenge, surely.

450rwkws will see 140mph plus. that's if the dynamic figures ain't been fudged with ;-)

Plenty room to fit decent size tire under it to run 9s if not quicker if you can make power

Doing some mods to the turbo set-up and installing a speed sensor.
Should go back together this week, but everyone has their hands full at this time of year with other stuff...we'll see.

Pricing will be down to JD75 as well as the final details.

There has been a constant evolution behind the scenes and we have put time into simplifying the kit to make it more affordable. We are about to test the latest revisions.
Your turbo selection will dictate what upgrade parts will be necessary. You may already have some suitable upgrades anyway.

Tuning and fuelling to be discussed with JD75 as well.
We have used JB4 and a Trebila flash but will possibly swap over to BoostBox and a Motiv custom tune for e85 scaling down the track.
The JB4 with PI integration works a treat on my car with zero issues. Trebila turn around on flash tweaks are immediate too.

I imagine the kit will have a base along with upgrade options:

Engine bracket and relocated mount (race mount)
Modified turbo of choice from 3076 to 3584RS
Modified Motiv manifold
Heat shield
Waste-gate pipe and waste-gate
Dump pipe
IC hotside pipe
Turbo Inlet pipe & filter
Modified water pipe, turbo water line & block offs
Turbo Oil pipe & block offs
Custom AN lines & fittings where required

Upgrade Options:

Comfort engine mount (will require some major work for this one)
Turbo speed sensor
PR Coils
Monster Custom 1800hp IC & Power steering cooler
FF manifold with IC up-pipe
Larger PI injectors for those pushing over 30psi
Colder spark plugs for high PSI
TB harness extension
Fuel tank vent extension
Port Injection or Shotgun options
Big Bubba BOV plumb-back
Water expansion relocation with mod fittings for FF manifold.
Monster catch can/oil/air separator
PCV fittings for CC
Custom AN lines where needed
Oil coolers in various stages to suit application

I am sure there is plenty of stuff I haven't mentioned but this should give you a rough idea.

Hey guys,

So the "stealth" bottom mount Single Turbo kit has undergone an evolution. The CHRA oil scavenging system has been done away with in favour of doing a custom oil drain from the turbo outlet directly into the sump pan. The Garret GTX3584RS turbo is also now using a smaller turbine housing with an A/R of 0.83 as apposed to the original 1.01 we were testing.

Spool speed has improved dramatically with the engine seeing 20+psi by 4,000rpm and over 30psi by 4500rpm, with no apparent roll off in top-end urgency. It's ferociously fast in 4th gear and 3rd gear is retarded as traction is even more non existent as you would expect.

Dyno runs will be performed in the New Year so please stay tuned for the power results.

Cheers,

Justin.

So far the kit has just worked out of the 'box'.

Getting a few kms on the car now at 25psi to shake out any minor issues, 23psi would be safer. Any more boost makes the car a friggin' real risk with the short wheelbase and even concrete roads. Given up trying to get traction on bitumen and may have to find some stickier tyre than the 008r's.

So far we haven't found any issues driving to central coast, blue mountains, Canberra and back, and now the Gold Coast. Gold Coast included a 10km stand-still and 2 hour crawl...Grrr! Over 2500kms this last week and will have another 1500+ by the end of next. Should get 4-5000km plus by dyno time (hope the engine survives my right foot).

Car is stupid fast for the road, even compared to the previous 425rwkw twin turbo set-up. Drives pretty much stock around town and ludicrous when you give it the welly.

I can chime in here to confirm the car is stupid fast. My 420kw 135i seems like a stock car compared to this weapon. Needed a new set of underpants after a spin in her.

Quick update:

Car tuned beautifully on the street at 25psi before a dyno run with just the right amount of wheelspin on concrete in 3rd and 4th. Can't do a street run on tarmac at all...no traction.

Couldn't get a complete dyno pull on Monday as we have an intermittently slipping trans on 21psi and not enough fuel rail pressure through the HPFP. Planning on installing the VTT Shotgun early next week and hopefully have enough fuel through the aggressive boost phase where the PI can take over.

Fingers crossed the trans will hold a couple more higher HP runs or its lights out on a 30psi run and off to replace the trans with my Nizpro box sooner than expected.

Marty has installed the billet VTT Single Barrel Shotgun over the last few days (bugger of a job) and it fills in the bottom end DI fuelling beautifully.

We are just holding off wheelspin through 4th turned down to 21psi but the roads speeds are getting up there and we need a longer private road.

At least we have some smoother logs for Trebila.

Today we managed 7 back to back 30 psi runs all over 460rwk in 40 plus deg heat on the dyno.

Running in full street trim and semi slicks, no special tricks & run it as we brung it.

Last run we turned it down to 28 psi as its still a stock 84k motor and auto trans.

In Oct, with a 1.01 A/R (and with restriction), these were the dyno figures:
23psi = 410rwkw
25psi = 450rwkw
28psi = 465rwkw

Now, with a 0.83 A/R and without restriction and also with a number of additional mods, the dyno figures were:
30psi = 462rwkw

What do you put the difference down to? I would have thought the latest 30psi tune with a seemingly better setup would have yielded a much higher reading.
How much more do you think there is left in it?

Great numbers all the same! Well done everyone! Keen to see further progress and the final result.

Some differences were heat, semi slicks, incomplete tune, incomplete set-up and lowest of the 7 runs posted.

Yesterdays runs just marked off some repeatable power in less than ideal conditions slammed out in 15min.

And there is always a restriction of some kind.
