If you search hard enough you will find posts made by member bdh21 who has 235/40 direzza star specs (wide running) up front. He also happens to be a close friend of mine who I will see tomorrow. Believe it!

See now I'm worried. I want to get star specs but some people have said 235s in the front are too wide... I really want 235s though. Does your friend experience any rubbing at all? Stock suspension?

He said it rubbed once or twice. Never while autocrossing though. only at this one place on the way to his gf's a dip and a turn at the same time.

Do not put 275 on stock rims! Apexraceparts created a custom one series wheel which allows us to run up to 275 out back. your best bet is 255 on stock.

225 F 255 R Star Specs work great and are a tremendous improvement over the RFTs. I would not want to try 235s up front. Why risk rubbing issues vs. going with a great tire that will perform well. I'd put 225 Star Specs up front against most any other 235s any day.

2. The tyre will be very difficult to mount. 3. The tread will not be in full contact with the road due to it being curved, as the sidewalls are pulled in too tightly. 4. 265/35-18 and 275/35-18 tyres are a bit tall for the 1-series, exacerbating clearance issues, 265/30-18 or 275/30-18 tyres don't seem to be available sizes. 5. Manufacturers only support the fitting of 215/40-18 to 255/35-18 tyres on the stock rear 8.5" rim. The stock front 8" rims will fit tyres from 205/40-18 to 245/35-18. |

also these will be track(drag) tires only.... so iam gonna be running them on low pressure (should fix curve issues) and i will defenetly look out for these problems before i put them on the car..... also my car is stock hight... so taller tires shouldnt be a problem in anyway... just give me a week and i'll tell you if they are good or not... i've done 265/35/18 on my 335i with no problem... so we'll see what happens with 275/35/18.... |
