That's apples and oranges though, but almost makes the point for me. A tuned diesel reaching the same performance level of a stock gas engine. Torque is cool and useful, don't get me wrong, but power is acceleration and a wider power band is more versatile.

Also, I have my doubts about the 38mpg figure, although maybe we just have different definitions of "aggressive".

Not to mention, it only came with a slushbox in this country, so in the absence of the man-pedal, the only "D" on board may be on the badge.
