So, I think I got f'ed without getting kissed. Bad TPMS sensor and the dealer charged $420 installed. That's not happening again. Are there better and more economical solutions that work? I'm going to change them out next year when I need new rubber.

Practically any other option. Yeah you got burned for sure.

I got some w/ a snow tire package, I think about $50 each or so. I've also bought them used for about $100 for all 4.

The full story was that they thought it was the transmitter. Because it wasn't seeing the front two wheels. Well I suppose it's on me because they came back and said it wasn't the transmitter it was just the sensor. So I assumed that would be less cost, and you know what they say about assuming. LOL I did manage to get them down to about 320 but it still hurts.

I've read both ways that you have to have them trained buy shop you can do it yourself. It sounds to me like you did it yourself with no issue

There are basically 2 versions, it just depends on the date your car was built before or after. 2011 I think but not positive without looking it up.

The sensors transmit very weakly and the car picks them up on its own. You get them on the wheels and the wheels on the car, and then go through the menu to do the reset. It's not a dealer specific thing, anyone can do it. And w/ idrive yeah it's super easy.
