Right, after speaking with my dealer yesterday, the current situation as I understand it is this:

- With the new 1 Series coming into production, there were "updates" required to the production line at the factory. Whilst these updates were taking place, BMW were not booking or confirming any further build dates for the 1M until the work had been completed.

- My dealer informed me that BMW UK are now (as at Monday this week) beginning to go through all of the UK orders and allocating them build dates.

- I'm reliably informed that I should hear back between Monday and Wednesday next week (11th-13th July) as to what my build date will be.

- As at Monday this week (4th July), an email went around to dealers stating that there were 49 cars left available to order. Therefore, anyone that has ordered are now only waiting for their build date to be confirmed, rather than waiting to hear whether they have actually secured one of the 450 UK cars.

Hope this helps!
All of the above is officially true guys. September quota is almost full so anyone who is still waiting for a build week will get a late September or October build slot for delivery in Nov/Dec. We should all find out over the next week or so.
One thing I should add is that you must ask your dealer if he has remembered to fill in the quota on demand form on the infonet. Its no good just placing the order on the system. I have heard of several admin depts forgetting this and therefore your order goes to the back of the queue for not following procedure! Better to ask.

Interesting! I'm not sure if my dealer has done this, but I do know that once he'd placed the order, he phoned up BMW UK and confirmed it with them. The estimated delivery date from my dealer was the 15th October, but obviously that is a real guess at this stage.

Really hope that I've secured a September build and October delivery. My order was placed in early June and I've since sold my Lotus Exige. So the prospect of having not car until December is not good!!

My order was placed in early April and I was told approximately 3 weeks later that my car should arrive middle of August. If this is still the case then surely I should have been given a build slot by now?

[QUOTE=kmpowell;9954164]A note of caution here. Clydsdale Bank offer a "Lease Purchase with Balloon" scheme, it is not a "PCP". This means that the Balloon is NOT a guaranteed future value. APR may be around 7%, but if you haggle BMW will give you an APR of a as low as 8.5%, which is a small price to pay for the GFV IMO. [/QUOTE

I am aware of that small but important difference. The main risk being that I can't just give the keys back and walk away. However if I did that with BMW finance, I would lose thousands anyway. Clydsdale also offer a lower balloon which should mean I'll be better off at the end as well.

I certainly haven't been able to get a better figure from my dealers on APR... "thats the best price, not making a profit etc..."

What sort of balloon did Clydesdale offer? I'm just starting to shop around now, I normally use Yorkshire bank asset finance as I thought they were the only bank who offered a balloon payment.

After 3 years; 15k. After 4 years about 12.5k. Roughly 2k less than BMW. There is also no mileage penalty or adjustment. Don't think options make any difference to balloon either.

Does anyone know if uk owners can keep track of the production status of our cars like US/Canada owners seem to be able to?

Cheers

The only way I knew was to get the information from the dealer. They know the status codes, which I think I pasted earlier in this thread.

Haven't come across an online checker yet.

I believe I got one of the last few build slots. I'd register your interest with a dealer though. If an order is cancelled it's possible BMW reallocate to you.

Errrr yes, in fact its now sold (less than 24 hours).

You know I love BMWs and I love the 1M but you may remember I traded my E91 330d Individual and my Z3M Coupe to buy the 1M and hopefully have the best of both worlds.

But it was killing me every rush hour sat in traffic with the 1M and sadly, it wasn't big enough for weekend use.

So, its back to 2 cars - I'll have a X5 40d for work and will look for something else for the weekends - probably a Z4MR (well, I did say I love BMs).

I've really enjoyed the 1M and cannot recommend them highly enough. Also, I've really enjoyed this forum, all good fun and truly worldwide.

If you guys don't mind, I'll stick around and put my 2p's worth in from time to time.

Cheers

Boxer
