N55 turbo options

Has the stock factory turbo used in the n55 evolved or changed over the years? Also does it retain the same turbo across all BMW models? So for example does my 2011 135i with a B30M0 have the same turbo as an M2 with B30T0? Thinking of a turbo upgrade on a budget and not going to go down the path of knock offs didn't know if it made any sense what so ever to seek out a turbo from a later and more powerful n55 version? Thanks

You’d probably have more luck in the 135i section. This is the 1m section and they all came with N54s

That said, I believe the M2 has a different turbo than the standard N55

M2 and 5/6/7 series have different turbos than N55 in E82, don't know what is different about them; I'd go with one from M2.

Thanks guys yes probably need to go over to the n55 guys. While I'm here though any turbo upgrades? Pure stage 2 or 3? Others? Cheers

I traded my 2018 M2 in for a Honda Passport SUV. That was an upgrade and I didn't even have to modify it.
