10 years ago today I picked up my car via Euro Delivery and spent the following week with my father breaking it in all around central Europe. Car is still with me and 65k kms later I'm still sending it!

Couple of photos from the trip plus a quick anniversary rip at the track last weekend

Met one of the original engineers, Jurgen

He signed my car

So glad you had your ED upfront mine, as I was very much inspired by meeting the M-staff: so also got to meet Jurgen and he offered to sign the car as well. Don’t worry, ever since i moved back to EU, yours is again the only (and first) lead-engineer-signed-car in North America. Thx again for your inspirational posts.

Damn those are some sweet pics. I only wish I could get to drive the Stelvio or Fulvia passes. Or that one highway somewhere in central Europe that starts with a T and is called something like Transdfkgnbsd;kjbjnsmre[]tk highway. You all know the one, it was in an episode of Top Gear.

Great story and pictures. My 1M was also Canadian, and had European delivery (but to the original owner, not to me). It still has a sticker on the inside of the windshield with the number "4" on it, which I think allowed it to be driven in Munich. I've already "decommissioned" it for the year, and it is up on a lift in my garage, not to be driven again until next spring. This is for several reasons including an upcoming trip to France, plus a minor foot injury that makes driving a firm clutch pedal unpleasant for the moment.

In spite of being the 2nd owner, my car has less miles than yours, which could be either a good or a bad thing :-)

I'm glad that I also have a 135is convertible (bought used at the 2 year mark from Carmax). I drive this car more than I drive my 1M, in part because I am less nervous about either putting on the miles or about getting rear-ended in this much less valuable car. The 135is is about 80% as much fun to drive as the 1M, and if you put the top down in the right kind of weather, then the two are even more equivalent when it comes to the "fun factor."

Do you drive your car in the winter? I'm guessing not; road salt is a killer in Eastern Canada, and in the US NE and MW. I don't drive any of my vintage cars in the winter, myself.

These cars are a blast to drive in the snow… thinking we should start a daily/snowy/dirty photo thread for those who daily theirs.

Great photos in this thread! Must have been s great trip.

Fun needs to be distinguished from utility. If there's a lot of snow, then ground clearance is a real issue with a car like a 1M. Also, road salt induced corrosion can be expected in parts of N. America, and unless the owner is in a position to frequently wash off the road salt on the underside of the vehicle, in winter, then do not expect the "rust-proofing" of the 1M to get you very far.

Yes! We need winter 1M pics. That will fuel my monthly recurring nightmare….go somewhere in the 1M, and get stuck in a blizzard half way home. 😂

Hedoniste has some awesome pics driving his M2cs in the alps last winter….
