Turn Signal Bulb Socket

Hey guys,

Have you guys experience issues with the turn signal bulb sockets? For some reason the passenger front turn signal bulb keeps going out and my bulb socket appears to have been too hot. It has black burn marks around the metal connectors.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

would;d guess a short. replace the socket or you will probably continue to have bulbs go or worse

It's 100% a common issue. The housing inside the headlight is cracked where the metal tab meets. It's a non serviceable part you'll need a new headlight eventually. For now u can keep trying to stretch the tab on the bulb socket to complete the circuit but eventually it won't work anymore.

That makes sense, this is the second bulb socket this headlight has fried.

Sounds like a new headlight is in my near future.
Do you think it's possible for it to start a fire?

Interestingly, my passenger socket looks exactly the same. Have had to replace one bulb over last five years. Need to replace the socket for now.

Obviously make sure to clean off the crud/burnt material from the connector.

It's possible but not likely. We all drive bmw's though so you can just remove it until you get a new one. Not like we use signals anyway.
