N51 0r N52

I did a search and could not find an answer.

How do you know if the motor is the "N51" or "N52" ?

Is it in the vin?

Look at the emissions sticker. If it says ULEV it is an N52. If it says SULEV it is an N51. There is some extra emissions equipment attached to the exhaust manifold on the N51 that is not on the N52. On N51 equipped cars there is a warning label near the radiator that says that you should only replace the radiator with a PREM radiator.

Just wanted to make sure I get the right filter for it. Though I am sure the filters are the same.
