Clutch Stop Mixed Reviews...

Hi guys,

Im considering buying one of those adjustable ebay clutch stops but im having mixed feelings about it. I just have a few concerns:

1. Does anyone have a clutch stop installed longer than a year? I have seen in some posts they break in about 3 months. If they do break, is it easy to replace the stock plastic piece?

2. from what I have read the install only takes about 20mins max. But that was mostly from 135i guys. Is the install the same for our 128i?

3. For those of you who have the adjustable clutch stop, whats the best setting you guys use (ie how many washers)? Are there any pannels to remove to install the clutch stop?

Im not so worried about pushing real hard on the clutch to start the car, but what does worry me is how easy it will be to remove the stop and adjust it. And if it ever breaks, it wont ruin the hole for me to reinstaly the factory plastic piece

Thsnks in advance!

I have it more than 1 year, it is still in its place, not broken. It isn't the adjustable one. Install is literally 50seconds if your hands know where they are working on. Yes I have 128. Don't have adjustable.

I don't need to push the pedal hard at all to start my car..

I don't know about any adjustable clutch stop, but my non-adjustable stop installed in about 30 seconds (literally) and is easily reversible. Though, I'm not sure why I would ever want to undo it.

Oh, and I don't need to push harder to start the car. That would sort of defeat the purpose of a clutch stop, which is meant to make the clutch easier to engage!

Same here, 30 sec. max. What takes 20 minutes? I did have to cut about an 1/8" off mine because I was having trouble starting the car-the clutch wasn't going in far enough.
