Dinan stage 2 on automatic 135i

Do people even try this or is it a waste of money? I'm just curious because I have an automatic for daily driving but just curious to what all the hype is about.

more boost=more power regardless of transmission used.

the average driver will be faster with the automatic. A very skilled driver will be faster in the manual.

Its a lot of fun power! You'll be able to roast people with both hands in the air waving them good bye.

Thanks to all the people that put their input. I guess I will try a stage 2 in the future. 1 more question though. Will this tune shorten my engines lifetime durabilty? I'm not a racer, and I follow the speedlimits. I don't like to abuse the car but sometimes in the highways will occassionally test the car's true potential. Sometimes haha when there's no cops around. Lol.

Seems you don't drive like a maniac so your engine should be fine. I'm sure once you feel the difference you may want to push the car more often

If you want to add reliability to the Stage 2 upgrade, add the Oil Cooler. It will help keep the temps down, which is a big deal with a turbo engine.

That's my plan (Me Steptronic Too.)

Have Fun,
Rick

I spokie with Steve Dinan and he confirms that a tune like his will certainly shorten the life span of the engine. Typical lifespan of the twin turbo 6 is around 150,000 miles. With his Stage 2 he expects about 130,000 miles.

Was the oil cooler brought into the equation?

Have Fun,
Rick

It is very well documented on this site that I have spoken with Steve Dinan numerous times. The 150,000 comment is way off base and untrue he must have been speaking with an impostor. As for the stage 2 tune and the auto it is an amazing setup I ran a 12.65 with the runflat tires at 116 mph at Lebanon Valley Raceway in NY with just the tune and intake.

If you are going to challenge what someone posts, at least "be a man" and bring somethinmg credible to the table.

12.65 is impressive I want the stage 2 so bad but it's just so damn expensive, I am waiting out the february 15% off to see if they go any lower with their software prices
