Tires do make a difference. Nexens run in around the top 30 percentile for being small by my guesstimate.
I think this will work as in allow you to go down the road without rubbing too bad. However, I think it will rub fairly severely if you hit a big bump the wrong way or if you carry passengers. A good fender roll might allow it to work but most likely you'd need that and to add some camber. With those wheels the only 265/30 that will work okay will be a Falken, maybe a Toyo. Nexens are very cheap so it won't be that big of a risk and you can just watch out for big bumps or big passengers.

i originally wanted falkens or toyos but tire shop guy said it'd take longer to get. i was in a hurry and trying to get my car back on the road ASAP so i opted for the nexens. you think that a 265 will really be that bad on stock suspension?

I'd steer well clear of that tyre place. Tirerack shows 13 different tyres available in that size from a variety of manufacturers:

Well did it rub driving home?
My Toyos were twice what you paid so you did fine. Just make sure you only carry one lightweight passenger max..j/k..lol.
