The 135is is basically a 135i with the M Sport suspension package, 18 inch wheels, a power bump to 320 hp and an M tuned exhaust. It basically just made the standard 135i a tighter, more focused package

I was unaware 2009 had an "is" model for the 135i.

It is not a 135is. The 135is was for the Model Year 2013 only. Some of the early build cars say 135is in a vin decoder but that is not what it means.
Read here about the 2013 135is: 2013 BMW 135is Coupe and Convertible Announced! PS - and the paint is called Cashmere Silver Metallic. Not Champagne.

Thanks Esteban.
Regarding "is" - just reporting what TisUI indicates based on entering my VIN. If BMW's proprietary dealer technician reference site is calling it a 135is, but it's not what that means, I'd be curious to know what it does, in fact mean or how the "is" designation would be applied when i use that site. Perhaps its the combination of options - (i.e. sport suspension, brakes, sport exhaust, 18 inch wheels, etc)? One things for sure, the cars' rear trunk logo does not have the letters "is" after the 135. Just "i" cheers, Len |

Also, all 135i models come equipped with "sport suspension, brakes, sport exhaust, 18 inch wheels." The 135is came with the same suspension and brakes, but it comes with the Performance Exhaust, which is different then what they call the "sport exhaust." To check an actual MY2013 135is in a vin decoder it must have option code P7MFA. Several of the other special parts that make it a 135is are added at the US port; PPK2, Performance Exhaust, 135is badges, etc. FYI... Edit: Forgot that some 135i verts came with 17" wheels vs 18" wheels.
