**Riss Racing**Tech Review
Hey All,
I have done a few tech reviews in the past, but this will be the first for 1addicts. The other night I met up with one of our sponsored cars which had recently removed all his parts for service. Some time had passed and it was time for a reinstall. This time we came prepared in style with our newly finished intake, plenum, and scoops. As you can see, the new finish matches great with the rest of the engine bay. It gives the appearance of factory equiptment but with a more aggresive performance design. You can plainly see that the air has no where else to go but directly onto the filter through a massive ram air system. Also, you may have noticed the new stylish and sleek looking polished logo plates. With the system reinstalled the turbos could finally be heard again, but we weren't finished yet. To finish off the night we reinstalled the downpipes which many of you know them by as the game changer. Other mods installed on the car since is the Jb3 with more to come! |

Where is the power steering fluid reservoir?
I can't see it in the photo. I have this intake and I'm not particularly satisfied that the new bracket you supply with it moves it far enough out of the way. My filter rests against it and it has to be canted on an angle to fit in. Perhaps because my car is right hand drive I'm having this issue? Can someone please post a photograph showing a close up view of the relationship between fliter, PS reservoir and bracket. I'll try and do the same and post here. Thanks. |

RR intake
Further to the above, here's some photos:
The first shows the intake partly installed with the PS fluid reservoir on the bracket suppled by RR. Next is the filter ready to be fitted to the intake. You can see it's going to be tight and the intake is going to have to rotate towards the left of frame. A problem is that this action forces the flex joint on the front turbo inlet to an unnatural angle. However, it still works. Now the filter is fitted. You can see it resting (firmly) against the reservoir. The screen of the filter also rests on the fairly rigid diverter valve hose. And finally, another view of the same. I'd have preferred if the inlet pipe the filter attaches to was angled differently off the main chamber of the intake and made longer to get the filter further forward and a little lower down where there is more room. You'll also note that I have removed the BMW over-the-radiator cold air intake (aka plenum) because with it in place, there is practically no room for the filter at all. So yes, it all fits but it seems to me a number of parts are under stress because they are bearing hard up against one another. This could have been avoided with a bit more attention to the geometry of the pipework. But as I said, perhaps there are some differences in layout of RHD cars vs LHD. I'm interested to hear if US customers have similar issues? Hopefully when the RR plenum arrives it will all mate together nicely. PS. The original PS fluid reservoir was mounted on flexible rubber mounts. Presumably this is to prevent aeration of the fluid through vibration. This is no longer the case with the new mounting bracket. It bolts rigidly to the vehicle frame. Ideal?? |

Could you shoot me a PM with the same information? I think I might have things installed incorrectly.

Daniel,
My setup looks just likes Caduceus and I've had the same concerns as far as pieces pushing up against one another. I went off all the pics I could find and tried my best to make things fit without rubbing, I even spoke to you while I was working on this about my concerns. Are you implying there is a different place to put the reservoir? |

We appreciate your feedback it will help us better serve our other clients. Keith, I will have Daniel write up a fix on the situation above, and post it up on the plenum thread. Thanks! |

Just a word of caution: K&N filter element pleats should not be allowed to contact against anything in the engine bay. Eventually the constant rubbing/vibration will cause a hole to wear through in the filter element. This is through my own hard experiences!
