Intake and exhaust have been 'tweaked' as well. Certainly wont risk a tune built for another car on the 1M. Wait until it has been thoroughly tested on the 1M first.

I really don't think the 1M needs a tune IMO. The thing has plenty of power. Bigger/better tires for street use, a set of rims/tires for track use, and that sexy akrapovic exhaust would be the only items on my list.

Yes, revised software, lighter flywheel and massively improved chassis/suspension will do that!

I believe they are responding to your post #2 in this thread, which references the only change being the M button. Indeed, we know have it confirmed that the software has been remapped for the 1M, along with the lighter flywheel. I'll agree with Roboto... I won't be seeking a tune for the motor for awhile....it's got plenty of power out of the box as I learn the limits of the chassis.

Yeah, what would Matt know about the 1 M, anyway... and he's probably lying, keeping the truth from the internets!

Hey Neil, I guess you are getting your late but it will be worth the wait I can confirm.

That will make the car perform differently, not specifically the engine.

Impressively, the power curve remains near its peak level north of 6,000 RPM.

more impresive is that with the tuning the car had + 40 horsepower from 4500K to redline.... not just a big peak.... it's a plateau of bonus HP.

So the stock rating of 352 hp... (PS).. I show that converts to 347 hp...
and the 332 hp (PS) at the wheels converts to 327 hp ... which means the 1M puts out at the wheels nearly what it is rated at the flywheel from the factory!

IIRC the Automobile mag dyno runs show 293 hp at the wheels for the N54is motor?

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...bo_engine.html

I'll be interested to see when Automobile throws a 1M onto the dyno for an apples to apples comparison to show what sort of work the M engineers did to tweak the 1M beyond the 335is/Z435is.

waiting for confirmation..paperwork is being submitted to the ED divison Monday... thanks to a tip from Papethova, who followed up with me from earlier in the year and gave me a tip and saved me from a lot more cold calling. I am hoping to get the car in Germany in August or early September, and then to pick it up from the performance center sometime in the days before BMW CCA ofest 2011 at Barber Motorsports Park

Nice. I was pulling for at least a few of the pre-drive group to get 1Ms. It just seems right... Since many of us got to share in that early experience thanks to you all and your great feedback and insights.

It's exciting to learn more about the potential of the 1M. It's already good out of the box, how much better can it get, looking forward to finding out.
