AUX port failed. Looking for advice

Basic info:
- 2011 128i (manufactured 4/20 2010)
- Options from VIN:
  • 663 Radio Bmw Professional
  • 693 Satellite Tuner Preparation
  • 697 Area-code 1
  • 6FL Usb-/audio Interface
Some time ago my AUX port failed entirely. I bought a replacement part (#84109237653), but this didn't fix the issue. A short period later (may/probably was at the same time and I just didn't notice) the radio became spotty. Sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn't turn on. CD player continues to function normally. After a few months of no AUX, I took a chance and bought a new head unit (#65129241762). This is not the exact same sn# as what was originally in my car, but I read elsewhere on this site about someone successfully plugging it in and having everything work. With this new head unit, the radio now functions 100%, but the AUX still doesn't work.

Could this be a coding issue with the new head unit? I've bought the BimmerGeeks cable so I should be able to root around in the car's settings soon.

Any other potential issues I'm not aware of?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

May be a short circuit somewhere?
I had a local BMW Coding technician ascertain that I had a short in my Aux port.

Aux is controlled by mulf2 unit underneath the TCU located under trunk carpet.

Do you get power from the USB beside the aux? Does the aux option show up on the head unit? If not, could indicate the mulf2 module is shot, at least in my experience these were the symptoms.

Can be straight swapped with a replacement, no coding needed. Once I had a working one in place, the aux option showed up on the HU.
