Ha - you know honestly I didn't think hard about selling, but I picked up a 987.2 Cayman S in August and the 128i will continue daily duties, but it's been 5+ yrs and maybe if I find a good home I'd go to something more bland for daily and get my kicks with the Porsche....but who knows, just saw a post and maybe an enthusiast would appreciate the mods & maintenance (and blood/sweat/tears) I put into this car....

Have to say, this community is pretty awesome, not feeling as much knowledge and free exchange of info/help on Rennlist that's for sure....I guess it depends but I find these forums much better organized and the contributors varied and knowledgeable...

Well if you must leave the 1er community, a Cayman is a good choice.

I am amazed at the level of help and support on this forum. The trouble people will go to making a diy with detailed steps and pictures is amazing. I remember early on your help with suspension mods and the advice that doing mods was a slippery slope. Ha! - you got that right! Also remember 1and1 went thru the bother of sending me and extra oil drain access door he had.

Haha yes I remember that massive/epic thread!

I just dropped some more money on maintenance so I think I will probably hang on to it for some time yet, haven't really advertised it but we'll see. In the meanwhile going to still try and enjoy it....weather is great this weekend so I'll give it a pre-winter detail/TLC!

Do what I did and keep the 128i. The Cayman/Boxster/911 family are nowhere near as comfortable and practical and that means a lot when you have to make a Home Depot or winter blizzard run. Its become my truck.

Ya for sure - plan was never to daily the Cayman, that's the summer/fun car now. Was going to look at a GTI or something as a daily. So far, still got the E82, I do enjoy driving it every day.

I think I want to turn the dial down on it to make it a bit more comfy, I really regret the M3 from LCAs as they (for me) ratcheted up the impact harshness significantly. But at the same time I need to stop tinkering and spending money on the damn thing, having 2 older german cars is a killer !!

Have you seen this 2010 128i Sport with 120k km for $9,500? Seems like a pretty good deal.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...mileage/m47040

Or this 2011 128i with 120k km for $8k in PQ
https://www.autotrader.ca/a/bmw/1%20..._24_24&sprx=-1

The Toronto market was pretty hot for 2011-2013 135i DCT in Oct and Nov. I had bookmarked 8 to look at all in the $15k - $20k asking range with 60k - 140k km. All of them except for 2 sold when I got around to emailing them. Several more have appeared since then but none have sold, probably due to the time of the year. Vancouver 135i DCT prices have fallen to $13k

I just spent all day driving around city and residential streets in midtown and downtown Toronto in my Carrera 991 4S and if I could do it over again I would have brought the 128i. I was tired and beat up by the suspension and less comfortable seats. The 128i would have been a dream in comparison to take around.

Porsche's live on tracks and autobahns; thats where the steeds run free. The 128i is hands down a better city car and so much better to take to Home Depot or to do renos or help a friend move. Not even close so I have to have both and use for the occasion. As much as the Porsche is in a league of its own I literally can't sell my 128i it is just too practical and comfortable all around.
