Sale: DINAN ECU Tunes for 135i --> 50% off

Just noticed the sale on Sale: DINAN ECU Tunes for 135i They are 50% off
You can get them for $669 instead of $1338....

Keeps the car legal and Max gain of 55 HP and 74 lb-ft of torque over stock

I am not an employee of DINAN: just a happy customer

Thanks

Well it wouldn't actually "sound" better cos it does not have the pops and gurgles of the PPK if that's any consolation !

I added the Dinan tune after I already had PPK and still retained all of my PPK sounds. I was worried I'd lose them.

Also how do you verify, other than through the gas pedal lol that the tune is installed? For example if the dealer overwrites it, can I verify it's still there?

MGM135is, This sounds like a pretty good deal. I would get it if I didn't already have it. Dinan's website says "yielding 355 HP at the peak as well as 401 ft-lb of torque" and I don't believe Dinan's exhaust is necessary to achieve these numbers.

Also, you will be registered with Dinan that you received the tune and you can call Dinan any time and it will show that your car has the stage 2 software installed. If you get a software update at the dealer and they erase your Dinan tune, you can go to any authorized Dinan dealer and have it reflashed again.

This is an amazing price. Loved my stage 2 tune and for that discount, it's a must have. Debating on doing it to wife's X5 35i.

I don't think their muffler is necessary, but to hit those numbers you'll need 93 octane fuel.

I've been lusting after the Dinan tune for a while. I noticed the sale a few days ago. Thinking I might just bite the bullet. Did you have to pay anything extra to have the tune flashed, or was it all covered by the initial cost?

I think you're right about the 93 octane, but it's not going to be a big difference between that and our 91 octane.

Yes, there was an install fee. Mine was $65.63, which was done at an authorized Dinan indy shop. A BMW dealer would probably charge more.

Yes, 91 octane California summer blend shouldn't be far off. No matter how you slice it the gain is substantial and enticing. Did you feel a noticeable difference over the PPK?

And thanks for clarifying. I know my closest dealer would charge something borderline usurious. I'll have to get a few quotes from other places.

Yes, I do notice a difference. It's not huge, but it's there. Honestly, knowing what the numbers were beforehand, it's what I expected.

Fortunately I'm on the East coast and only run Shell or BP 93.

When the price was still at $1338, the independent shop said I'd just have to pay tax, while the other BMW Dinan dealer closer to work said I'd pay an hour of labor plus tax, bringing the price just over $1600. So I plan to go to the independent shop. If even they charge some labor since it's half off, the guy was trying to work with me from the start.

Don't forget, you're also getting a warranty for that extra $100 over the JB4. Considering the power numbers are going to be similar, it makes it a much easier decision. At $1338, it's a slightly tougher sell for many which is why JB4 is so popular.

Am I right in saying that to install the Dinan tune a Dinan dealer needs my ECU, it can't be done remotely?

I think you can mail your ecu to Dinan and they send it back with the flash. Otherwise, I believe it works like APR and others by plugging a computer or tune device into your car via the OBDII port and replacing the stock tune with their program.
