Top speed 138 :-(

Recently I had the opportunity to test the cars limits, however, it seems to reached it a little too soon. I thought a 135i with-out the Sports Package could reach 150mph? and Sports package is 155?

As soon as I reached 138 or 139, I felt the car loosing power. Felt like it reached fuel cut a little early? The car didn't die but if I backed off and punched it again, same result.

Could this be another sign of a bad fuel pump? Only running JB3, intake is stock.

I felt the engine bogging at 148-149 (GPS), but there was too much traffic for me to try top-end again to see if it was just my imagination. The air temps were cool, but I was only running on 'super' (which it think is only 91 octane).

The speed limiter on the 1ers is very gentle compared to other cars; instead of it crashing into a wall and dropping 10ish mph at the limiter, it just kinda settles in on the 147-149mph actual, 155mph indicated limit.

I pushed it yesterday on z autobahn and had to let off because of a quick upcoming turn. (sorry for the blurriness; not very stable at these speeds)

I will have to try it again, It was a very warm day and there was a lot of head wind. Now that I have an intake I will have to try it again, will be some time as I don't like to attempt this unless the roads are clear for miles and it's completely dry.

Will report back soon.

Got to about 148 (238 Km/h per GPS) on the Autobahn during euro delivery. My brother made a vid on his digital camera, but too lazy to sign up for hosting service.

If anyone is curious PM me and I will send it to you.

Got 254 kph on GPS (about 159 mph), about 267 inicated (157 mph), ran out of nerve, the car was still pulling. This was before JB2 was installed.

I've had 161mph on the speedo and it was still pulling - no limiter hit???

I thought it would have kicked in at an indicated 155mph?

Speedo error seems to be variable between 0 and 5% from car to car. Both the Navi and BC generally will provide the correct speed for error checking.

You guys that are hitting the speed limiter early....what tires do you have? Typically the factory speed limiter is set based on the tire rating. I can see them lowering it if you've bought the optional all season tires.
