Had mine replaced today. Doubt they will replace the one that is still functioning.

I was working out what you meant by centre brake - and I realised you meant the centre brake light. lol ... it is getting late... I am getting tired.

Me too

Been waiting a few weeks now for a replacement driver's side tail light assembly, ex Germany. Asked them to check the working passenger side: "It's working". Wouldn't order/replace the currently working one. Hoping it won't go out whilst I'm waiting. Also had the cracked centre brake light replaced.

I hate driving with one light out - I feel defective...

Does anyone know exactly what the problem is with the LEDs?

as I mentioned in my other post, I would be almost certain that it is just a loose connector, the wiring in there isn't exactly sturday. If I had the issue I'd be tempted to take the light out myself and have a look (it's piss easy to do)

You'll feel even worse if the cops pull you over and put a defect sticker on it. I'd strongly suggest you jump up and down a bit, see previous posts.

Hey MickyD

Any chance of a pic of the wiring/connectors so I know what I'm looking for?

TIA

after about 10xxxkm the centre brake light is finally showing some cracks.. hopefully the dealer would not make a big fuss about the matter.

the other tail lights are still holding up, thankfully.

Does anyone know if this is under warranty? I would hope so, as it seems like common flaw.

I had the tailight failure about 4 weeks ago - Auto Classic in Perth did a great job of replacing it while we waited, washed the car, topped up the oil and did a general check.

Very, very happy with the service.

Until last night. Same tailight has failed again. Obviously not the dealers fault but frustrating nonetheless.

Booked in for Friday morning, loaner thrown in, fingers crossed it will last this time.

I suppose it could be worse........could be long cranks!

I've had electric steering wheel lock and tail light failed. Service guy just said they failed, and they are common problems. He couldn't really say that BMW or their suppliers make poor quality parts that have a high failure rate now, could he?

I will ask the question and see what they say. I appears to me to be a solder/circuit problem as all three LED's are failing/flickering together and jiggling the plug doesn't seem to help.

LED's are supposed to have a very long life, but I suspect they are frequently let down by their supporting circuitry.

OK, so picked the car up on Friday arvo.

Had the use of a new 325 during the day. Hmmmm....I see why there is so much discussion on what to buy after the 135...sooooooo slow.

Anyway no further detail on the problem, only an acknowledgement that it is common.

Good SA - wanted to know where the leather key fob cover came from (I bought it from a retailer off this forum!).

Was driving out the driveway when I heard the sound dreaded by every BMW owner with runflats - tick, tick, tick - sounds like something in the tyre. Pulled straight over, still outside the dealership and walked back in. Happily, they responded well and it turned out that it went into a tread block and not deeply. Including my last car, it would have been my 4th puncture in 3 years - I have no manner of luck!

Having said that, I have taken the rim and tyre insurance policy but its the last thing I need right now. Anyway, happy ending and fingers crossed the taillight lasts this time.

Teddieman, some punctuation would have come in handy there!!

Anyone else had the other one go after they've been in already to have the first one replaced? This is pretty pathetic, IMO.

After having the driver side replaced a week ago, the passenger side is now gone. BMW replacing tomorrow. Obviously a real problem with these but does anyone know if the replacement assemblies are any better?
