How did you log that?

int2str: what logging gear are you using? Did that come off the CAN bus?

Very interesting to see the traces! You could definitely see that the e-diff was kicking in with mild brake pressures on acceleration. Also looks like that 'predictive' braking is working too.

So even when dsc is completely off the traction gods are still at work... I've never felt any braking in a slide or when on the track... you learn something new everyday

Yep, I can feel it working when I'm at the track with DSC completely off.

Well, it's not the "traction gods" technically, but yes. The ADB-X system is always on, cannot be turned off - neither should it be.

You won't feel the braking.

That's the common misconception. It's not slowing the car down - quite contrary. The braking applied to the inside wheel means you get actual torque transfer to the outside wheel. So you're actually accelerating faster through the turn then you would with just the mechanically open diff on the car.

Just looked up ADB-x on google and got the low down off of the BMW website. This is crazy! I assume a mechanical LSD is still way better, but for 3 years I never knew I had this on my car... Good riddance gents, haha JK. Thanks for the info, I was so lost early on.

I understand that it is a lot better than a pure open diff, but I disagree that you won't feel the braking. I notice it on long sweeping turns on the racetrack, it is like a tiny tugging feeling and the weight shifting around in the rear.
