What kind of filter are you using in the Euro box?
Both add to sound. I already had the silicone hose installed, and the euro box adds to that. Using a Mahle OEM filter.

Idk what it adds, but with the stock box that little hose made a difference. I really need to get the car dyno'd again to see what my intake and exhaust do

Just found a euro box on ebay.co.uk, couldn't pass it up. I already have the silicone intake tube so it'll be cool to hear what the difference is from just the air box swap.

Definitely curious to see what your feedback is on the sound and power/response front!

I have this and it sounds great, but I got it used for like half price. I don't know if I could pay $400 for it. I like the dry filter and it seems to have held up well.

I have to say, I didn't really notice a difference in power or sound from the euro box down low but it does seem to open up a bit more in the upper RPM.

That being said, it was completely worth doing just to have easier access to clean or change the air filter.

I definitely recommend keeping an eye on the european Ebay sites, I got mine for $60 shipped from a seller in Lithuania. Bit of a gamble I suppose but it showed up and bolted right in with no issues.

That said, it can be swapped out in about 2 minutes.
How is swapping out a full aFe intake a 2 minute job? maybe 15 minutes+ or I am missing something, i guess its just some bolts and clamps.

was it really worth bumping a 6 year old thread to split hairs over a 2 minute vs 15 minute job?

well when i'm doing research on carb certified intakes, this thread seemed relevant. but as confused how swapping out a full intake would take less times than pumping gas, unless literally I am confused about long a job like that would actually take.

Sorry for the confusion. I agree. Fitting the aFe will take longer. With the stock or Performance intakes I'll stick with 2 minutes to remove and replace one with the other.

I put a Turner intake in my 130i and it sounds great. Compared to the euro box the car came with, the Turner is considerably louder and in my opinion makes the N52 sound even more interesting both inside the cabin and outside of the car.

Mind you the 130i came with the 3-stage intake manifold and a "sound generator" so both of these things are likely to be adding to the overall experience. On the sound generator - I decided not to go with Turner's intake boot so I could keep it.

While my understanding is that the Turner box seals itself against the hood, I also went and put heat reflective tape against its outer walls. Not sure what I can confidently note on specifics for performance gains, but the car is probably a little quicker and the N52 seems to like this intake.

Also would note that the install was very quick.
