How-to: Installing a 135i oil cooler onto your 128i
For any N51/N52 powered 128i owners that are thinking about installing an OEM oil cooler to keep oil temps down for track use, I just installed one in my 128i and put together a detailed write-up to help guide anyone considering this mod. I also packed in plenty of info on prep (all the items you'll need, including most of the part numbers) and the (two) different OEM options available via my blog.
Just figured I would share with anyone that might be considering running an oil cooler: https://www.investigatingtheapex.com...n-the-e82-128i EDIT: To anyone that runs across this thread- I cancelled my blog, but I transferred all the DIYs I wrote into the GRM build thread that I started years ago: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/fo.../258441/page1/ Last edited by roninsoldier83; 03-19-2026 at 10:01 AM.. |

I appreciate the time and effort you have taken to document on forums, the good and lessons learned on your 128i journey. It helped me make the decision to acquire a 128i recently.
