Car tax

Good morning my fellow 1Mers..
The tax on my car finally expired the other week.
So i thought id check the price on the tax disc ....£580.00 wtf
Straight away i was on the phone to DVLA asking them how could it be so expensive !!
I then got told it wasnt £580.00 but £270.00 for 12 months.
I asked no questions and got my tax disc in the post 3 days later
My M3 friends tax disc says £440.00,but he went on to say that this was to do with the importing of a new car.

Yes I was pleasantly surprised with the price and expected it to be more , the 1m fits just in the tax bracket

Anything over 225 co2 g/km will be £440 our slips in at 224 co2 g/km. The price of £580 for the first road tax on the 1M included a 'show room' tax
