Tyre fitment - Melbourne
Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a place to get tires fitted in Melbourne - Doncaster area? I've got a set of Michelin Pilot super sports and my local Bob Jane wouldn't fit them because they're not run flats! Needless to say I spent 30 minutes arguing with the 'tyre experts' and even pointed out that the car currently doesn't have run flats on but there was no way around the danger I was exposing myself so we parted our ways, never to meet again. Does anyone know of a shop that has some intellect and will fit my tyres? I got the tyres from Tirerack, and will definitely be buying from them again. Thanks. |

Don't know about Donny but you can try Tyrepower Hawthorn, we deal with them.
Give them a ring, speak to Micky tell him Jason from Euro Division referred you there. |

Sounds like your local BJ is not gonna fit them 'cos they're throwing a tanty at not selling you the tyres. Funny how my local BJ were quite happy to sell and fit Michelin PS3s for me down in Frankston.

Not exactly in the Doncaster area... But I recommend Tyre Plus in South Melbourne.
I've been to them many times and have always had excellent service. http://www.tyreplussouthmelbourne.com.au/ |

Smiley, sounds like you'll be doing some serious work with the PSS
Did you order all four tyres in one delivery? Did you have to instruct Tire Rack to avoid Australian customs? (I am also interested in ordering PSS.) |

Hey Timbo
Dealing with Tirerack was the easiest in the entire process. I'd definitely deal with them again and the money you save is A LOT! Yes I ordered all 4 (225/255 combo) and I spoke with Trevor from tirerack, I initially called them rather than sending an email. From then on it was all via email. They know what to do in regards to paper work for customs, I didn't have to instruct them on anything. I was quite impressed. The only pain in the process is payment as they don't accept credit cards but in the scheme of things this is pretty minor. |

They also provide a letter with the tyres to aid customs by stating the tyres are new, kept in a dry place, etc (so you don't get stung with a inspection fee at customs). |

Thanks everyone for your help.
If anyone is looking to replace run flats with PSS go for it. I am amazed at how much better the car feels. I'm not referring just to the extra grip, sure there's that, but it's more the feel and feedback you get from them. I had major issues with tram lining over even the smallest ripples on the road and the Michelin have completely removed this. I'm loving the car more now! Now just waiting for the meth kit to arrive! |
