First 1M Mods have been decided upon...
So, after the long-term modification wish list started becoming a frequent "damn I gotta do this", and attending EuroFest this past Sunday @ Paul Miller, I have decided that I need to do two mod's soon...
1) Coilovers But my question is, since this car has the M3 suspension, wouldn't an M3 coilover kit fit as is, or would I need to wait for a 1M specific kit??

1M specific. The M3 Coil Overs would technically fit but wouldn't be dialed in for the lighter 1M. BimmerWorld is addressing this (with my car) in the near future.

What aspect of the 1Ms handing are you hoping to improve with the coilovers?

I'll tell you after I get it on track on 6/6/11. It handles very well as is but until I get it on track I really can't feel it out safely. It has massive front end grip and feels very neutral so far but I suspect there's room for improvement. Adjustability would be good as well.

Very interested in your track findings. As far as why I am doing coilovers, eventually, is due to the increased adjustability when running a more aggressive wheel/tire setup. Dialing in camber with fully adjustables beats just dropping your car with springs and really beating the shot out of your stock shocks which weren't valved for the lower stance. Especially living in Jersey.

I would say ... a Tune to boost the hp/tq in order to run with the big dogs :-):-):-)

I'm data logging in the coming weeks so a certain (unnamed) tuner will be out with something specific to the 1M after we get it on the dyno as well. Hopefully then it will really be an M car.
