SatNav screen pixelating... HELP!

I am having issues with my 2008/09 E82 135i S609A Professional SatNav screen pixelating.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

*cough* okay, I know this thread is like 3 years old.... but did you get anywhere with this? Or has anyone else had this happen?

Cuz it’s happening to me on my 2008. Very badly too, like it’s not even legible, so i can’t change any options or see satnav maps or whatever. Car works fine, not throwing any codes, just super frizzed out.

Also, seems to be tied to hot days for me (in NH), because it basically doesn’t happen all winter.

If I flick the screen with a finger, sometimes it goes away, and.. sometimes it gets worse. Very odd... i’m going to pull the screen at some point and see if I see any bad connections I guess. Not interested in buying all those parts and then paying someone to code them to the car.

I had my screen replaced under Extended Warranty when it happened, I asked if I could keepp the old screen so I could look at the connections but the Dealership said that they had to keep it. Sorry I could not be of more help.

So they did indeed replace the entire “flip-up” display unit, correct?
That would be my intuition as for repair and I presume I can find one out of a salvage vehicle, install myself.
Question is (if anyone knows) will that require programing/coding or is it just as simple as plug and play?

Following. I get this happening on real hot days during the summer. So it's bound to get worse.

Not sure what would cause this, but my guess would be bad connection for the screen. If I remember correctly, there is 4 (maybe 5) pin connector that goes from the screen to the CCC unit, if nothing is covered, I would start there.

Also just replacing the screen requires no coding of any kind as its just a screen.

I would be guessing but I assume they would have changed the whole unit as the Dealerships don't pull items apart to save money for customers, sorry I didn't take note at the time whether it was the whole unit or just the screen

Looking up the part with my VIN there is only one part for mine as I have the Navigation system Professional

I was also putting it down to hot days but I wasn't 100% sure

I was hoping to keep the old unit as at the time as I had seen an article online that said that there were about 100 tiny pin connectors along the back of the base of the screen that can cause issues
