Argh...guess I was wrong...looks like a 5mm spacer:

Sorry to bump an old thread - OP did the parking brake still work after the rear swap?? I got a killer deal on a set of BMW performance calipers from a 135i (even with the cracking they'll be miles better than the stock 328i calipers...) I will for sure retrofit the fronts, but I'm curious if the rear e-brake will still work.

IMO the performance brakes look more aesthetically pleasing than the newer M-Sport brakes.

I did two track days on mine (with OEM pads, BTW) with stock 128i rear brakes (with Hawk pads). Absolutely no fluid boiling going on, the calipers were perfect, but the OEM pads let them down in terms of fade. I don't really have any issues with brake bias, either...

Similar results as above. I ran with the ecs tuning rotors and hawk 5.0 pads(they had a deal going on). I am running 135 rear brakes/hubs/axle swap with a 135 master cylinder.

No issues at Mid Ohio yesterday. Plenty of bite and no real fade in a 20 minute session. I do notice that they are softer going home after 6 sessions. that would just need a quick bleed.

I find that these are much better than 135 fronts. they are more consistent in feel and less perceived fade. I think with cooling/track spec pads/r compounds these would be a great setup.

my 2 cents

Ran last weekend at Summit Point, this time with EBC YellowStuff pads. More consistent than the OEM F30 pads, much better modulation, but they got soft towards the end of the first session, and never recovered. I'll bleed the brakes to be sure that the fluid isn't an issue (never has been with Motul RBF600) and inspect the pads to see if they're glazed. Do glazed rotors have a purplish tint to them? That could also be the issue (mine are totally purple, but get less purple with street driving)...

I did get one particularly strange thing from the brakes this time around, smoke. We had a red flag (E92 M3 rolled inside of T9) and as I slowed to a crawl and got over to the right of the track, smoke was clearly pluming from the front corners, and I could see major heat distortions at every corner; it all subsided after about 30 seconds. Yikes.

thinking of doing the 4 pot front and 2 pot F30 328i caliper swap, but want the 17" style 44 rims to work. Have a local rebuild calipers shop looking at 330-340mm rotor front and 300mm-345mm rotor rears setup. I will be taking a rim to see if it will all clear. stay tune...

FWIW, the fronts with 340mm fit my 17x8 et45 Fast FC04A wheels. It's a very tight fit but it works.

What needs to be done to install the rear F30 335i calipers? I need to put on new rotors and pads back there anyways. I'm guessing there will be an issue with the parking brake on the 128i?

[QUOTE=Nad128;24149093]I didn't do the rears.

thank you. I checked out the F22 section, and noticed some were putting on 17" on their M235i/240i that have the 340mmfront and 345mm rear setup.

I'm looking to do this swap in a couple weeks. Can someone confirm that the gray 4-pot Brembos bolt up to the 128i caliper carriers, or will the caliper carriers from an f30 be required?

The calipers have built-in carriers, you simply remove the 128i caliper entirely and it bolts right up. Make sure you install them with the bleed caps facing upwards.

Style 256's fit with a 5mm spacer up front. They're both OEM wheels, so I'd expect clearances to be similar.

Disconnect the brake hose at the hard line and mount the hose on the caliper off the car to avoid twisting the hose upon reassembly.

eg. Use a vise to hold the caliper when torquing up the hose.

Could anyone positively confirm if these F30 calipers clear the 207M 17in wheels for 128i? I read the 5mm spacer requirement but wanted to know if anyone has tried and succeeded in fitting OEM wheels with the caliper upgrade.
