Hey guys & gals (yeah, I'm proud to be the latter ),

Just had a wonderful European delivery in Oct. for my dream M2C (1st pic attached). Now waiting for it to arrive in Houston, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Have been driving my 2013 128i (2nd pic attached, I'll find more pic and attach later tonight) for 5 years. Really enjoy it!!! It's a lot fun to drive! But it's time for me to make a switch and I'm ready for being more powerful with the new M2C!!!

Anyway, not sure if anyone is interested, just want to post here and see if I'll have any luck to sell my precious 128i. Below are some details:

2013 128i $16,800 OBO (Price Drop!!!)

VIN: WBAUP7C50DVP24855

• 58,500 miles (as of 11/27/2018)
• 0 accident, 0 major mechanical component failure or replacement
• Alpine White
• Coral Red leather interior - absolutely love it! don't know why they don't have this option on M2C
• M- Sport package
• 6-speed automatic with manual shifting mode (with shift knob and paddle shifter)
• BMW OEM wheels, 18" Black
• BMW OEM carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler
• Moonroof
• Bridgestone run-flat tires in excellent condition
• Car overall is excellent condition - no pet, 1 driver 99% of time
• All maintenance and repairs done at Houston area BMW dealerships
• Includes original complete set of brand-new silver BMW OEM M-Sport wheels with tires, essentially brand new, kept in garage since owner took delivery of car
• Selling because getting an M2 Competition now

Wrong forum. Also, good luck at $19800. You're about $5k or so away from a happy meal.

Have to agree that the price is high. According to NADA, clean retail is $14,900. Since you are a private party seller, you'll probably see in the high 13s. GLWS.... and great choice on picking up the M2C, nice car....

Does your 128i come with a diamond In the backseat?

$20k for an autobox 128i with 58k miles is nutty. If it was a manual you could swing that kinda of premium...to the right buyer.

Yeah, I bought my manual, 2012 135i six months ago for $19,999 with 38,000 miles, and that was from CarMax, who isn't exactly known for having the best deals. Even $15K sounds optimistic to me for this 128i with an auto.

Well bought I think considering it's a manual. The 128i is one hell of a good car in manual...

This is my first BMW, I've been taken good care of it. I understand it's on the high side of estimated sale price for 128i. But with all the add-on (OEM CF spoiler, OEM black front grill, OEM black wheel with Bridgestone run flat tire, red seats and a new set of OEM silver M sports wheel), I feel like I'm not asking for too much. If I have bought a SUV instead of M2C, I'll definitely keep this in my garage.

2009 BMW 128i  [5.00]
*Bomb drop whistle sound effect*

$20k for an Auto with 60k miles is insane, to be frank.

$20k for any 1'er (other than a 1M) with 60k miles is insane (except maybe a stock, pristine 135i).

I love the 128i as much as the next guy, but that price would have me laughing (which it is) even if it had less than 10k miles. Mods don't add value, they traditionally take it away (you never know who installed them, or how they were installed), and OEM wheels can be found anywhere for comparative pennies.

Good luck with the sale, but you aren't getting that kind of money.

Here is a comp from CarMax for $13,999 for a 2012 with 58K miles, and, as I mentioned earlier, that's not usually the place for the best deals, although one can occasionally find a deal there:

https://www.carmax.com/car/16547312

I don't want to harp too much on it, and good luck to you, but I think the price is pretty far out of line, which is why many of us are mentioning it.

Thanks for your comments. Like I described in the previous reply, I've been taken good care of my car. It has been really special to me, and still is. If it's not for more power, I'll not switch to M2C. I know I'll miss my red seats so much.. I really think it's worth more than a normal 128 that has normal plasticky silver wheels with silver trim, and boring color seats.

As far as the add-on - all parts were installed at the Houston dealer, wheels and tires at discount tire right after delivery.

No offense on the black exterior and black seats (my husband has an M3 that's black on black), but I think the white exterior with red seats on mine is really a rare and special combination on the 1 series.

So if the basic 128 model you mentioned that has same mileage sells for $13,998, I would think it's fair for mine that has a more sporty looking, with some cool OEM add-ons and an extra set of new OEM silver M-sports wheels to be a few grands higher.

What do you think would be a fair selling price?

This is the key phrase here. While your car is special to you, it is not special to the market; it is a standard 128i with an automatic. You may be able to get a bit more for the service history, the color combination, and the M-Sport package from the right buyer, but the mods don't count unless you sell them separately.

Private party selling is generally cheaper than buying from a place like CarMax, and OEM add-ons rarely add value. As others have said, it could even hurt the value.

Kelly Blue book for the car is between around $12,500-$14,500 selling private party, and trade in value is around $9500-$11,700. I'm guessing you'll get $13,500, but it just depends on the buyer. If it was a manual, you might've been able to find someone who'll pay more than Blue Book, but I don't think ext/int colors will matter on an auto.

Sorry I just don't get it. Why mods don't add value? If there are two cars out there has same mileage and condition, one is standard model, the other has interesting OEM mods on, I would definitely choose the 2nd one with reasonably higher price. That's why I put those mods on right after delivery of the car and kept them on since then. And I always got compliments on my car.

Aren't people buying 1 series for its special sporty look?

She did say OBO.. give her a break.. if she doesn't find a buyer at this price she will have to lower it or keep it. Not sure why you are trying to convince her how much it's worth. Isn't it worth what someone is willing to pay for it?

I appreciated and enjoyed every sports car I owned (over 40 at last count). I hope the next owner and next after that enjoyed the car as much as I did, until I got something different or better. Bottom line, I got rid of each one because I wasn't enjoying it anymore the way I should have. And I got clobbered on the sale most of the time. I don't think you enjoyed your car as much as I enjoyed seeing my half a porsche on the track. I was coming up the hill at the track at the end of a train. I saw what at first I thought was dust from a car going off the track, and then I realized it was not dust, but the innards of the Porsche I shared with a buddy. We didn't have much $$ into the car, and it makes a great story. Sorry, no pictures.

Modifications don't add value. Often they knock the value down. Don't believe us, check the interwebz. https://instamotor.com/sell-car/car-...t-resale-value

A new 230 coupe starts at 35k before discounts. For about 15k more than what you want I can get a new car with a warranty, seats nobody farted in before me, lower interest rate, and 60k less miles.

Or, I can go on BMWUSA.COM and the first one that pops up is a CPO 2016 with the same miles for the same 20k. Which one would you buy? Don't believe me? https://cpo.bmwusa.com/used/2016-BMW...8562?zip=80122

Don't mean to pile on, but you're pricing based on emotion which is way out of whack from what market value is. This is the same thing that happens when someone sells their home. Everyone thinks what they have is special. But it's only special to you. As Tomm indicated above, mods can some times lower the value of your car due to the question of how the mods were done. Even if there is no question of how the mods were installed and if the mods in question would lead a buyer to wonder if the car was beat on, at most you might get a few hundred over market. Certainly not thousands.

As to the comment of OBO, yes, she can lower the price if there are no takers. But the same applies with pricing homes. If you price it way out of line, you'll turn off many prospective buyers immediately. I know I wouldn't even bother inquiring and negotiating as the delta between market and asking is so far apart.

Sure, but I think most of us are simply saying it may not be a great strategy to price the car nearly 50% over market value, but the to each his/her own.
