Hmm, wonder why Porsche and Ferrari are going to DCT instead of sticks?

That's not the point. The point is personal enjoyment and interaction with the vehicle. Porsche still offers manual. So does Audi. Only reason they would stop is if it's no longer profitable. Ferrari is a small niche producer, it may be cost inefficient to maintain both drive train. Why is arithmetics still taught in k-12 when there's calculator.

He was trying to point out, as others have tried to point out, that marketing is making this thing look and sound more than it is. Be careful guys, the hysteria is taking over and no one has even seen an official release.....

I agree. I hope traditional manuals continue to be offered, but I think that manufacturers' long term goals may be to offer one "best-of-both-worlds" transmission in the form of DCTs. Offering only one transmission would definitely reduce production costs, but I wonder what the long term reliability of a DCT will be like.

No pic, then only speculation from both YOU AND ME.

And that is the TRUTH, unless you can get sombody who is on site at the testing to show documet proof that it is a Manual transmission in the test mule.

Pretty sure it's a manual... doesn't the guy accidentally pop the clutch right at the beginning. Also, it appears the driver has one hand on the wheel and the other on the gear shift.

The car looks well composed and corners extremely flat, nice. Most of all, the M3 was behind the M1 trying to catch up. (fuel on fire

BMW M should make the M1 (E82) faster than the M3 (E92). The M3 will anyway be better in some ways:
-more place
-more exclusive
-more history
-more prestigious
-more comfortable
-NA -> more Motosport, better, if not the best, sound.

They're both factory test cars.

Just record the noise, put it on an MP3 player and blaze that shit while your driving, it would be cheaper....

Obsesed with noise.... I couldnt care less if it didnt make any at all, the performance is where its at, not the noise after affect from gaining said performance... You all sound like a bunch of rices with that talk.

To the people talking a M would have this, and an iS would have that.... You have no idea the concept of test mules I take it?

Test mules are just that, test for components, not a whole package. For all we know, it is a 1 series new body on a chasis designed for a new BMW go-cart... who cares if it has a damn sun roof, the whole chasis will be gone when they go to market with the go cart dude...

Speculation is pointless, face facts, you DO NOT KNOW, WE WILL NOT KNOW what the hell it is untill they unveil it, plain and simple. But, I degress, carry on pointless badgering about what it is, what it isnt, and your prefered gearbox. Im sure it will make a diference in the end, becasue BMW is going to make it exactly to your one and only specific wants and desires.

Disagree. Noise is very important for the reason you pointed, to not sound like ricers. Its kinda like foreplay

Gets the blood pumping, adrenaline flowing, it signals whats about to come

So by your logic, we don't really know if the car has a gas powered engine since we haven't seen a pic of it.

Get real, it's obvious it's a stick from the first minute of the clip.

I was stating, my opinion/preference.... You cant disagree with my opinion because i didnt compare it to yours or others, I stated what I liked.

You could then state what you liked, but disagreeing with my preference is like me saying I disagree with the sun becasue its hot, and I like cold.
