Track Settings E87

Hi, please can you help?

I'm based in the UK and race an E87 130i that has M3 arms, Ohlins/KW (mid set) dampers with a solid mounted rear sub-fame and solid engine mounts. I have to run road tyres in the series I compete in so Yokohama AD08's (235/40x18 & 265/35X18) on 9J 35et rims. Spring rates are 475lbs front/rear and I run a Drexler LSD. Camber is 2.5 all round, 4mm toe in rear, 2mm toe out front.

With this set up and 300bhp 260lbs/ft, I struggle getting the power down without oversteer

What suggestions do you have on this set up to help the oversteer?

Thanks

I would suggest setting the rear dampers to a softer setting and increasing rear tire pressure. additionally you could reduce your front camber or increase rear camber. you could also reduce front toe-out as well as more negative caster. all these would help with reducing over steer.

furthermore you can try modulating the throttle a little better coming out of turns. 135 has more torque and it all comes at a very low rpm so I need to be careful with throttle inputs otherwise I will be facing the oncoming traffic

E36 M3 throttle bodies, race exhaust manifold, Motec ECU. Standard head and cams but the Valvetronic is locked at full lift

In Europe the N52B30 engine was fitted in the E87 as a 130i

To get the power we first removed all the standard wiring looms, ECU's, fused boxes etc and fitted a custom loom with Motec M800 ECU and Motec PDM 30.

ARP con rod bolts, E36 throttle bodies on custom inlet manifold, race headers as used by BMW South Africa and a lightened flywheel.

This gave 299bhp at 7200rpm.

I heard a tune on a 130i will get you 280 PS and 325Nm with an otherwise stock motor. this is done solely with software.

Sorry, I saw the vave cover and it reminded me of an older engine. Now that I look closer to your engine photo - I can see the N52 waffling of the engine block.

Sorry I can't make cams, we had some made by Piper in the UK but you need to delete the Valvetronic and replace it with a N54 cam carrier, not straight forward!

What failed on the engine that is causing the replacement? What are you doing as far as chassis setup now?
