There's just not enough free time to do all the fun things we want to do...

So to get some visibility and prioritize our time, here's an ongoing list of events happening here in Europe that I've got on my radar and might appeal to all you addicts/enthusiasts.. I don't mind if we turn this into a running list.

I went to the ADAC Rallye last year and should be going again this year. Unfortunately the 1M Ring meet is the same weekend that I will be in the South of France for MINI United.

It's over here in hockenheim and should be a day of pushing M cars to the limits..with instruction of course...cost is steep but working on VAT exclusion so that'll make it cheaper. I'll let you know the final costs.

Its in English also and starts the 2nd and ends the 3rd of sept. Do a search for "M" intensive training.

Hey..not fair, this is way more cost effective than a three-day course at VMR that costs $3400+ or the 2-3 day M drives here costing 2500€s

And besides...after driving this baby M for 1300 miles, I realize it's limitation is me... I could spend thousands modding the car to be better and faster but I'm still the weak link, so i hope money well spent.

BTW, Where are those club driving schools your talking about? Now that i'm in direct contact with BMW ///M, maybe they'll do a GB instruction. Anyone interested?

Rick... don't you get a "free" M school bc you bought a M model? I'm pretty sure you do get a free M school.

Bmw also has 1/2 day, one day and two day driving schools at the Munich airport and at some verious tracks around Germany and Austria.

Btw... the Techno-Classica Essen car show will be held in a few weeks. I will be sure not to miss it!

Rick 924 euro's is that for one day or two days? Do you drive your own car during the training? Just asking cuz overhere I paid 590 euro's for one day and with your own car. So only owners with ///M cars are allowed here.

If you could organize something like this I would be interested but what would be the cost?

Hell, I would like to drive my own car but also interested in the cost. The 924 for 2 days is not bad with VAT form.

I would be interested overall.

Whoa cowboys...more info to follow.

- 924€ is only for those with tax-free status. 1100€ otherwise.
- Not sure whose car I drive yet...if I drive mine I want a discount also, from my research...we drive the M3.
- No...not two days of driving, from what i saw in other forums, meet the night before, stay at a BMW sponsored hotel, get some goodies ( I saw some of the two-day guys got jackets and helmets...not sure if the one-day class gets swag), next morning at track..done by 5:30pm.
- Directly from BMW website: Instruction to include theory of driving dynamics, practical driving exercises, 1 overnight stay with full board in single room, insurance

But that being said, everything I've read about this says it's worth it. Also, understand that the two-day class is anywhere from 2300-2500€...so this represents a bargain shared with only 9 other students. And this one is suppose to be in English for us language challenged expats.

In car instruction is by far and away the best way to learn. A typical high performance driving event typically is saturday & sunday and cost somewhere between 400-600 dollars. There is a split between classroom instruction and on track instruction. You drive your car you are grouped into beginner, intermediate, & advanced run groups. First join the BMW Car Club of America. Then create an account at www.motorsportsreg.com and the rest is history. Some of the greatest tracks in America are up for grabs if your willing to travel. Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio, VIR, & Watkins Glenn the list goes on and on. Some of the funnest tracks are the lesser well known ones. VIR is my personal favorite. It is the most demanding technical track I have been on with good elevation changes.

I made the leap of faith and attended my first BMW car club meeting here last month. No driving schools but I am working on discovering more.

Cheers!

I will definitely be following this thread. Provided I make it back in time (things are getting a little stupid out here with replacement dogs and such) I might have to randomly show up at the 1M nurburgring meet to see some 1Ms in action. If you are able to work out that driving school, especially if we can use our own cars, I would be game for that.
