All Sprint Boosters for BMW are the same. You just need to worry about getting automatic versus manual. However, that price is rediculous. I guess the tanking of the dollar versus the Euro is really making these things expensive. I got mine for around 250.00 USD. |

It will not make your car accelerate faster, matter-of-fact it reduces your ability to modulate the rpms and keep a steady pace. Instead of using 3" of your gas pedal and having 100% throttle, it uses 2" of your pedal for 100% throttle. Most people don't usually punch the throttle at every light... it seems to "race'ish". Thats all the Sprintbooster does, gives you the sensation of punching it off the line all the time. Yet, if you wanted to do that... you would. Most people can touch the gas pedal and match what ever RPM they want in nuetral.... with the Sprintbooster you can barley keep the engine at 1100 rpms because it's so sensitive. It waste alot of gas too, because it makes you stab the throttle every time you touch it. |

Since driving the M3 and 135i back to back, I've always thought the 135i badly needs a "Sport" button like the M3. Something to quicken the throttle response substantially, something that may work well for hell & toe at the track.
Perhaps this device installed with a defeat (passthrough) switch, to act as the Sport mode?

Thats because the M3 has a fast breathing, high revving engine. The throttle, had alot more to work with... and could modulate very precise amounts of power, in any situation. The new M3 is further proof of this. Unfortunately, that^ has nothing to do with the throttle...! |

Its quite simple. All you need to do is remove the accelerator pedal. It is held in place by a hex screw at the base of the foot rest covered by a little round cap. Take off the cap. Unscrew the hex screw and pull up on the accelerator and it will come lose. Dont pull too hard as there are wires connected to the back of the acelerator assembly. All you need to do is unplug the sensor that goes into the accelerator and plug the sprint booster in there. Then plug the other end of the sprint booster into the sensor that was attached to the accelerator. Voila! You are done. You cant get it wrong as the sprint booster has male and female ends for a fool proof install. Put everything back how it was. Take your time as getting the pedal back in may take some coaxing. It took me 20 minutes for the whole install the first time. Takes about 8 minutes now. You may want to practice removing and installing the accelerator since it is only 1 screw before the SB arrives so you know exactly what you are doing.

It did for me. Before you install it drive around for a while with the radio off and really get a feel for the car. Then do the same after the install. You will clearly see the difference.

This thread is almost old enough to enter middle school.
It's not really a controller, more of a modulator. It increases your pedal sensitivity by boosting the signal strength sent to your ECU. You basically get to WOT quicker. Your car doesn't go any faster than it is already capable of, just becomes more twitchy. I personally think they are useless. |
