I have the professional radios installed and also have the aux and usb install, as far as I have got is I looked in the trunk area and can confirm I do have some box that def says Bluetooth not sure if it says sat? Should it? From what I have researched so far is my build is lucky enough to have the box for both sat and Bluetooth? If so does this mean that my head unit is capable and ready just needs to be coded and wired? Reason I ask is because I happen to have another head unit that was given to me from a newer 128 that states that sat is built into that unit? I want to confirm that I do not need a new head unit or the spare one that was given to me to complete this job? I just want the simplest most cost effective way to add both bt and sat radio. According to another site the early years were for a lack of better words "pre wired" for both and also understand that's a understatement that the control box for them are there and you need to do some wiring? This is what I found on that please correct it or me if it's wrong? I only want to tear into this once and do it right the first time that's why I am asking ahead. Also not as important but what's the point of the usb plug if it will not read a iPod lol?
"THESE ARE THE PARTS NEEDED IF YOUR CAR HAS USB....

HANDS FREE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE 84316938762
When the parts guy pulls this up get him to look at associated parts, one of them is a 6" wire with pins on the end, buy 4 of them.

Bluetooth antenna 84506928461
BMW do a 6" smb to smb cable but can't find the part number, by this to hook the antenna to the MULF module.

Last part needed is some wire to hook the mic to the bluetooth unit, I bought some really cheap and thin twin core coax from Maplin, was about 80p meter and I bought 6m.

The USB unit sits in the boot, run the mic wire from the mulf module in boot to headlining, took of a pillar trim, takes 10 mins tops.
Mic snaps into the space near lights.

You then need BMW to code your car for bluetooth.

Bingo!

Total cost is around £45 parts and 30 mins coding. "

The satellite radio module is separate, you'll need to install that separately. As far as i know it's not part of the head unit. You will also need to reprogram your head unit for the bluetooth and satellite radio. Does your radio have the little phone button on it? if it doesn't you might need a new radio. And do you have a multifunction steering wheel?

Here's a youtube video with the install instructions for an e9x, it should be the same for a 1er

Thats exactly what my car had before i started ripping it apart haha. What makes you say that you dont have bluetooth? because those are all the parts that will allow you to make/receive calls. If you wanted bluetooth audio streaming thats something different.

try pairing your phone with bluetooth, the car will come as BMWXXXXX, where the last 5 digits are the last 5 digits of your vin number

There should be a pairing code, if it asks you for one just enter "0000".

As far as i know bluetooth streaming isn't available on non-idrive cars, that is an oem solution anyway. The only reason this is, is because there is a different bluetooth media module that controls this functionality and is only offered by BMW on cars that have iDrive (CIC professional navigation). I would suggest one of those bluetooth ad2p adapter things that plugs into your AUX port is powered by USB. I used one before and they work pretty well.

So I tested out to see if my installed head unit was putting out a Bluetooth signal but unfortunately it's not.. So I guess I will have to retrofit but shouldn't be that hard I guess since I have the main control unit in the trunk? But I would also like to get Sirius satellite radio working as well and I happen to have a spare head unit with sat radio built in (pics included) but I would like to find out what else I would need as in wiring or antennas if someone can assist with that retrofit that would be great! The coding I am aware of but need assistance on how to get this whole thing wired up and working correctly. Also as a side note I would like to know if anyone has any advice with streaming Bluetooth audio or is there anything I can do to get the factory usb to read a iPhone or iPod? Because it does not it just charges? Unless I am missing something? Thanks again in advance!

I'm like 80% sure that the sirius satellite radio is powered by another module that is added to the MOST bus.
You're correct your bluetooth module is in your boot ready to go.
I'm not 100% sure on the wiring, but you should only need to install a microphone and run the wires to the boot.
You need a BMW Y-cable to get the factory USB under the arm rest to read an iphone/ipod.
Streaming bluetooth can only be achieved on your setup with an external bluetooth-aux adapter.

BMW Y-cable? I am guessing BMW sells this cable? I will look it up thanks for that info! And I am still trying to research the sirius radio upgrade no one seems to have any info on that if you find out anything on this topic please let me know! Thank you very much so far and in advance

Heres a DIY, http://www.e90post.com/goodiesforyou...iriusRadio.pdf but it assumes your car is already wired for it. Do you have the sirius preparation wiring?

Edit: i found the install instructions for cars without the sat prep wiring http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10536 . Just a heads up - it looks pretty involved

You are amazing! It looks like I am pre wired for sat! Also I think I am going to try this well rated y-cable that incorporates Bluetooth streaming to solve the audio streaming! This Bluetooth audio streaming device is amazing! Works flawlessly! It shows on my professional radio the tag data and list it under iPod! The sound quality is also great! This this is perfect and a cheap solution for audio streaming!
