Why the 1M secrecy?
Why has there been so many more spy photos and info available on the M6 and M5 which are scheduled to be released 6+ months after the 1M?
Technically we're only 4 months away from the official unveiling of the car and there has been almost no spy photos in almost 2 months. The last bit of info released was the teaser video on July 8th. The M5 front bumper and engine has been almost completely unveiled here; http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=410707. While the M5 wheels have supposedly already been finalized and shown, we havent even seen the 1M wearing anything beyond the Competition package M3 wheels. or am I just being impatient? |

No, you're not impatient. You make a good point. But perhaps it's because this is a first of it's kind and not just a new model year.

This is anything from secret. From the BMW produced videos at M-Power, to the automotive reporter drive-arounds, this is the least secret BMW ahead of launch I can think of.
The introduction is only a few months away, and there are plenty of rumors that BMW will be shown early at the BMW CCA. |

Then why no production body images?

Hugo, I hope your buddies hinted that to you. I take your "possibly" over a lot of the other crap I read/hear.

Well for me there are 3 reasons:
1. BMW is preparing something amazing and want to shock the enthusiast as well as the competitors, when they reveal the final prototype and release the specifications(price, engine,hp, performance, extras). 2. There is nothing so special about M1(old platform, less than expected power and extras, overpriced) and BMW is trying to build up the attention by periodically teasing the people in order to make them believe it is actually special. 3. BMW is not really ready with final product due to the relatively short development period in comparison to other M's and they are using the speculations moving around the internet to adjust the final specs. I really hope it's the first one, but we'll see. |

I'm with you. I'm so impatient that I started researching tuning options for a 996 or 997 turbo which makes me think the 1m better blow me away for it's price.

Well some prototype for sure, but we can't say whether it is the production car or just a car that is going to look like the production car. What I mean is that u can't buy every word of Scott. Whether the final interior specs and engine & suspension fine tuning are still on the run is still unknown. Just a month and half ago, in this teaser movie the driver says that the interior was far from the final design. They can film the final body design, but I won't bet that every part of production car is in its final, complete and ready for production version(of course the main one should be ready by now). And if you've read some of the older threads you'll see that there are real debates going on here. They need to position the car very exactly between the 135i and M3 in order to satisfy the M1 fan's expectations and not to disappoint current M3 owners. Well I don't know exactly how much time they need to do this, but I am sure they can correct the engine output for instance with 20-25HP up or down or perhaps even more every time they want. Its just some ECU settings. Maybe I can be wrong, but i won't close the third option till i see something black on white! Nevertheless, we still hope for the first one, at least dreams are for free

Technically, that is a teaser. Hopefully BMW will show us more if the rumors are true. I am talking more than a headlight!
