"New" 135i coupe???

Hi... new here.... I just read something on Edmunds.com, and realized that basically this a 4 year old design.... It is still based on the old 1-series hatch in Europe... Which raises the issue: Will a totally new 1 coupe be coming out in a couple of years? So is it better to wait and get a base 3-series... and then get the totally redesigned 1 series, when it comes out... (the problem with that is Bimmer will want to see the sales for this 1-coupe, so it does not go the 3 series Ti way...)

Thoughts?

I think Roundel said 2011 Model Year maybe? But you're onto the fact that it's up for a redesign soon rather than a refresh.

There will always be something newer better and more powerful. you can wait but there will still be something better after you get what you waited for.

If you can wait 3 years then sure go ahead. However I don't follow the logic of buying a 3 now and exchanging it for new 1 in 2011. How's that much different than buy 1 now and get another 1 in 2011? That''s 30k now and 30k in 2011 and for that amount of money I would rather buy the new M3 now and keep it for 6-8 years instead

So the 2008 3er is worth ZERO $ in 2011??

Life is short, eat desert first (or buy the 135i first in this case).

But the point is we have been waiting for this for the longest time... I am not sure when the concept was shown (2002???)

So the design is sooooo old. I would rather lease a base 3 for two years, and when the totally redesigned 1 comes out..... pimp it out with all the options... I mean I will want to keep this car for 10-12 years... why throw money away on something that will be replaced in 2 years, when a major revamp is around the corner and you can bet it will be better... so throw all your money into that....

It is very strange that BMW showed us the CS1 concept 5 years ago and took THAT long to put it into production.

simply by looking at the chassis code we know the 1 series has been around the block. e82, iirc the e83 is the X3 and I know that's been around. but honestly, does it matter? i think if you like the car you should stick with it, doesn't matter if there's a newer 1 series coming out. also newer isn't always better so we'll see what they even change come 2011.
