Now that is an argument I can live with. I drove thru the Rockies last summer and I lost some serious power at altitude.

I seriously just can't lose on this one! The 135 is either a phenominal car, capable of performing magic and making my heart throb... Or I keep my R53 and continue enjoying the aforementioned benefits without the new loan.

Just wanted to say "Hi" I have owned a 03 and 05 MCS and currently drive an 06 R53 MCS. I have loved everything about the MCS's but have been waiting for BMW to bring back the modern version of the 2002. Well they have and I will be getting 135 :biggrin:.

Now the hard part...........the wait.

I think us MINI drivers are gonna dig the 135. I'm not going for the modern version of the 2002 stuff...that's just needless marketing hype.

I really really don't care who thinks of the 1er coupe as a modern interpretation of the 02 and who doesn't, make it what you want, point is you like it, or you don't. That's it. It is what you want to be.

Oh and I should mention that up until recently I was an Internet Manager for a BMW Dealership for 5 years...............and my father used to own a 2002 Turbo.......so no bias here :wink:. Its all in the marketing either way thank you BMW. I am curious as to what Euro delivery on these will be, because that will be the route I will be going.

Yeah the MINI is a definite nod to the old skool except you have A/C that actually blows cold air.

Maybe the 1er will be have a Behr A/C and when you turn it on the gas needle moves like a second hand on a watch.

I have A/C on the brain today...it was way too hot in SoCal.

I drove an R56 MCS a month ago and liked it but nothing compares to RWD for handling. It was very impressive, though, and nearly tempted me away. Hope you enjoy it.

Currently R56 owner and future 135i owner. If finance is possible, i will keep both. My daily beater is '06 330i, so I suppose 135i is going to replace 330i.

If I were you, get a use R53 and than sell it when 135i comes out. '04-'05 R53 is already depreciated but still in warranty.

I was just reading back through this thread now that the weight of the 135i coupe has been let out of the bag. Its a whopping 200lbs heavier than an e36 M3, or a whopping 130lbs lighter than a 335i coupe.

Good thing the MINI S is still 750lbs lighter than a 135i. With a JCW on the R56 the power to weight would be close in a smaller, more nimble package. BUT it would still be front wheel drive.

The solution? For me it might just be a 230HP 3220lb 128i coupe. Its the closest thing to my e36s of yore.

Can anyone tell I still have no idea what to get?

I think it's still too early for this debate, we would need to wait to see how the 135 handles itself. The Mini being cheaper, it might be still faster and handle better, but time we'll tell

R53 with 15% pulley owner here. Drove the R56 and a base 335 sedan last night (auto, no paddle shifters, no sport package). very good windy road followed by some highway.

Drove R56 first - but with two other people in it. Not bad, not blow my socks off either. Defiantly much more refined, like they filed off some of the rough spots of the R53. Easier to find torque coming out of corners. Would like to try one by myself. Its good - but I don't feel the need to ditch my R53 for it.

Two words for the 335: FREIGHT TRAIN. That car pulls like madman everywhere. The car felt nowhere near the 500+ LBS heavier than the MINI that it is. It just didn't matter. Very easy to drive hard - does exactly what you tell it with no drama.

And the engine - ahh, the engine. It really is amazing. I have been from build muscle cars to turbo Miatas and ended up in an R53. Driven E30, E36 Ms, worked integras, WRX's, etc. I can not think of a power plant that was more willing & flexible than this. Granted, this is all with my Rose colored 135i glasses on, but i was more than impressed by the base 335....
