DIY Video on front brake pads
Finished up a DIY video on how to remove and replace the front pads on a 2009 BMW 135i.
Hope someone finds it useful and enjoyable! -Joe |

Nce DIY video!
Only thing I would do different would be to bleed(& flush) the brake fluid after installing new brake pads. I would have also used a 3M scuff pad on the rotor surface. Using a one man pressure bleeder like the Motive unit - makes easy work of bleeding brakes. Also... perhaps its time for you to invest in some Allen (impulse) sockets instead of those L-shaped Hex keys! lol And using a can of CRC Brake Kleen (bc its non flammable) instead of compressed air is the way to go. You don't want all that brake dust floating around your garage. Great DIY! Dackel

It wasn't necessary to turn the rotors. I would have them turned if they were warped - or just replace them. If there is a lip on the outer edge, then they might be out of spec and need to be replaced. It's a good idea to measure the thickness.
Good suggestion on the brake cleaner - I typically use lots of brake clean! Should have added that to the video. I do use compressed air on the caliper itself - some brake clean can be harsh on rubber - like the dust boots. Thanks for all the comments! -Joe |

Thanks JOE for the DIY video brake pads. thanks to your helpfull video i installed my new Portfield r4s pads and new stop tech slotted rotors
1) be strong 2) quality strong tools 3) be patient i started off with the passenger side first and i got to say the two 10mm bolts that hold the caliper are very tight but i manage to get them out even with out a break bar once i finished installing the pads and rotor on the passenger side i moved to the driver side i unscrewed the top 10mm bolt and then as i try to unscrew the bottom bolt it woudnt budge at all i mean AT ALL i was trying for an hour just for that last freaking bolt but nothing so i re installed my rim back on and drove off to a car shop which had a break bar and even with the break bar wouldnt budge but luckily we manage to get that fukn bolt out . like i said 1) be strong 2) quality strong tools 3) be patient |

Glad you got the bolt off! If they didn't use a breaker bar - what did they use? Impact?
In general I try to buy all the tools I need for a project - I love buying tools. Buying tools is great....I feel more manly when I buy tools. |
