Accessory Belt Issues
Alright I'll spare y'all the long version of my story but here's what I'm dealing with.
About 6 weeks ago my accessory belt started squeaking a bit. I scheduled it to be repaired but drove it in the meantime. Before I could get it swapped, it snapped. First repair shop fixed it and the car drove for about 400 miles before it snapped again. Took it to another shop and they've run through about 4 belts while also replacing engine mounts and trying several alternators. They've had it for a month now, and it's gotten to the point where I just can't trust them to take care of it any longer (never call when they say they will, always say it'll be done 'tomorrow', etc). Tomorrow morning I'm getting it towed to another shop and hoping they can figure it out. Any ideas at what could be causing this? Car is at 74k miles so the first belt going made sense, but all the subsequent issues aren't adding up, at least to the mechanic who currently has my car. |

Make sure all pulleys are good as well as tensioner.
Then run a straightedge between them to make sure they are all in the same plane. Maybe they are putting it on wrong. There is some misinformation out there about N5# belt routing.
