Monaco Blue 135i around racetrack (videogame clip)

Sorry if repost. I like the part at the very end of the vid where he breaks the illusion of the track. Funny driving how he bumps the other cars off. Hilarious stuff.

This drive serves to illuminate the shortcomings of an otherwise realistic driving game.

If you tried that crap in the real world, you'd be sitting in the impound lot, or the bushes, or jail. Or in a smoldering cinder.

But if the game allows you to drive that way and win, I'd say: Blame the game.

LMAO! You sound like an old fart yelling at the neighborhood kids for cutting through your yard. Seriously, that made me laugh and I don't laugh very much reading internet banter anymore.

I used to be part of a Xbox Project Gothem Racing league, with a bunch of other guys from Bimmerfest. We tried to stay true to the no paint swapping rule, and tried to keep things as real as possible (like not bouncing off of a guardrail at 170mph to riccochet around the hairpin faster), but as a few people joined, it turned into a slamfest, which was fun in it's own right, but took most of the skill out of the game. It's easy to win at those games by pushing people off the track, if they don't reciprocate.

It was a good way to pass the winter "no driving event" months. We met once a week at 9pm EST for a couple hours, and took turns coming up with which track/car combos we would all use.

One of our CA posters here was in that league too, adrian's bmw.

I guess I am an old fart, since I still think the fun part of driving fast is getting from Point A to Point B, not boinging off of imaginary guardrails or sailing untroubled through nonslippery, digital grass.

Actually the slam-bam lap referenced at the start of this thread isn't my least favorite YouTube of the 135i in Gran Tourismo 5. That honor would go to the guys who let all the other cars pass them by, and then plod around the track sideways, burning off as much rubber as possible. Yes, sports fans, the "drifters."

Drifting may be a stunt, but it isn't a sport. If you like going really slowly and making lots of smoke, I'd just point out that you can leave the car parked, set it on fire and have your ultimate experience....

Any contest that depends on the unbiased opinion of a Romanian judge to determine a winner isn't a sport. ; -)
