Rear ended, need a little help

I got rear ended about 2 weeks back, low-ish impact but the rear bumper cover was tore up. Had it replaced but noticed that the rear bumper cover is now looser than I remember the original. I can wiggle the bottom center and get motion all the way to the rear tires. (Hard to describe) what I need to ask of y'all is, can someone post pics under the skirt of your OE rear bumper so I can compare?

Thanks,
Drill

Driver rear ended and pictures under the skirt wanted?
Thankfully I'm not blessed with a naughty mind...

I'll see if I can find any pictures for you.

Sorry for the delay. Can't post from work and had a Dr appointment last night.
Those pics definitely help, thanks. How much wiggle do y'all have in your rear bumper? I'm wondering if I'm missing some foam or tape or something :-(

Thx again

The same thing happened to me at Christmas in a parking lot hit & run. Sounds like you are missing some fasteners and such. My son who restores cars said that there was a lot of fasteners to be replaced.
I talked to the body shop and explained it was limited production and for them to be sure to order all hardware and fasteners. Mine doesn't wiggle or make noise so if they "cheaped" out or just left things off when they did the repair that could be your problem.

Also when I was hit the replaced the whole cover and bumper assembly. If they just replaced the cover and not the actual bumper that could also be the problem. It looks like it is time for a gentle but firm heart to heart talk.

Sorry (again) for the delayed response. Turns out, the guides WERE broken so they replaced those. I got it back yesterday and the rear still wiggles too much though. I Took a small video and will share when I get the chance.

Thx again

OK, I can't use the advanced reply functions from work but it appears the basic is ok.

Anyway, I'm having a few problems with the repairs but hope we're getting closer to resolution.

First, they keep reassembling the bumper while the paint is still soft so the pieces peel paint off at the mounting points. Our solution is to repaint on Monday and let it rest for a day.

Second, the bumper "wiggle"... one of the mechanics was with me yesterday while we tried to figure this out. He put his fingers up between the metal bumper beam and the bumper cover and it went back to normal. Can anyone check their 1M to see how much space they have between the 2? I'm wondering if the low(ish) impact was enough to push the shock absorbers in just a little bit without blowing the seals. If you can't get your hand between the 2 pieces then this may be the case.

Any other info or advice is appreciated :-)

Thanks!

EDIT: I can go advanced to edit... just not to create a new reply... weird

Ok, just to summarize since I'm having technical difficulties with PMs and normal replies;
I took my BSM to Centreville Collision Center (CCC) in Chantilly, VA. BMW of Sterling told me they couldn't do the repairs and pointed me to CCC. While it's been a frustrating experience with the bumper wiggle and soft paint scratching the people at CCC have been good to deal with.

Thx

Shouldn't they be baking the paint on in an oven? I know from past body shop experiences that the paint can be baked which essentially makes it a normal hardness. After baking the paint it will off gas slightly over the next several months as it fully cures. Putting wax on the paint will prevent this off gassing and can lead to issues.

They told me it would still be a little softer for about a day so...
Once I get a cell connection I'll put up a couple of pics...

OK, I got to see my car with the rear bumper cover removed today and all the bits and bobs look fine. There's no compression of the bumper itself visible and all the mounting points appear to be good. I still can't figure out why it's so much looser than before
Since there isn't really anything else that the shop can do the plan is for them to put a bit of high-density foam between the bumper and cover to "fill the gap" and lock it in a bit better.

Thanks for all the help
