Valvetronic errors after I reconnected the battery. 128i

Anyone know where to start?

2 fault codes:
2A3F
2A77

Both are valvetronic related. I only did seats... Could something have shorted when I disconnected the battery?

Car is in limp mode and I have a 6 hour drive tomorrow morning. Any help is appreciated.

Did you try clearing them and seeing if they come back?

Are all of the connectors that plug into various parts of the harness at the battery connected securely? Maybe something came loose when you disconnected/moved it around/reconnected it.

I think it's the battery fuse. Will order and replace and update with part number so this thread can be useful.

All this info might be helpful to someone.

Did you ever figure out what caused it? I disconnected my battery and now I am getting the same codes and same issue.

Yes. As I was removing the positive battery lead the trunk flap fell and knocked my ratchet onto a lead which caused a spark and short.

Man.. literally same thing happened to me. Ratchet hit and I saw sparks. What did you have to replace?

The red fuse looking box on top of the battery. Look up a few posts from this and I listed part numbers. All should work. I used eBay.
Best of luck.

Perfect thanks for all your help! All you had to replace was that red looking box that sits on top of the battery? I’ve looked them up they’re not too expensive.

In my case, yes, that's all I needed to replace. I got a used one in eBay. First one didn't work so I emailed the guy and he sent me another without making me return the defective one.

I hope yours is as easy. TBH, finding info on this was harder than the job.

Took it to my local BMW dealer to get it diagnosed and they confirmed it was the fuse box not powering the valvetronic. Just ordered the replacement piece. Thanks for all your help!
