I'll add my experience here, which is similar to chris_flies directly above.

2008 128i with Dinan fixed plates, M3 Thrust & Control arms, pins removed and stock sport package springs / struts I have -2.4 degrees camber and have the toe just slightly out - maybe .1 degree. Steering feel and handling are excellent on the street and track. Tires wear pretty evenly on the track and I have not driven enough street miles to judge impact on tire wear.

This is what I run on Ohlins and Vorshlag plates for mixed use, car handles well and tire wear is great on and off the track:

Front:
Camber: -2.3 - cannot get any more negative camber
Caster: 8.2
Toe: -0.01

Rear:
Camber: -1.8
Toe: .24

From what I understand in my little knowledge is having too much toe is the main cause of tire wear.
