I'm about to purchase one of these and their solid motor mounts for my E82

http://www.ad-eng.net/store/p19/BMW_...hermostat.html

They're USD$39 and unlike the other options out there, this one actually is a thermostat and not a bypass. Andy has advised me that this will open at around 90ºC instead of the stock thermostat which opens at around 110ºC. This allows it to start circulating through the oil cooler earlier to keep the engine cooler but at the same time will allow the engine to warm up properly first.

Let me know if you want one and we can split shipping costs. I'm going to order sometime this week regardless.

Edit:

12/2/16: The first batch has been paid for on 11/2/16 and is on its way. The second batch should be with the machinist and ready for shipping in 2 weeks.

The price per unit inclusive of shipping from the US to Sydney is AUD$59. I will be contacting everyone for prepayment. To save on shipping, all melbourne units will be sent to vtl for pickup from other members.

3/3/16: The first batch has arrived and is being shipped today to the first 8 members of the group buy. I have received word from Andy that 15 units will be ready in 1 weeks time and another 20 another week after that. As we actually have 17 more units paid for at the moment and it is still below the AUD$1000 customs threshold, I may wait for all of them to be ready and then sent all together in one go. This means they will be posted to Sydney in about 2 weeks time.

17/3/16: The second batch has been ordered and shipped as of today from the US. It should hopefully arrive in about a week and will be distributed as soon as possible.

I'm sure I can organise postage to different states once it all arrives. But best to get a quote for shipping direct from the US to melb first to make sure it's not going to cost extra. Usually even something small still costs like USD$30-40 though. Such a rip off.

The AD engineering website doesn't have an online shopping estimator so easiest thing would be to go to BMS and see how much they charge to ship their "thermostat".

Sounds good. Hopefully I can put through this order by Thursday or something. If there's lots of guys in Melb that would make it even cheaper. Just ship to one address and collect like we did with the inlets.

Just delete the thermostat! We don't get anywhere near freezing temps for this to be an issue.

Froops in Sydney and I am in Melbourne.

So I am thinking Froop would get the initial shipment and do a 2nd shipment for the Melb ones to me. Then Melb peeps can just pick up theirs from me.

I use 10W-60 so I need my car to be able to warm up as quickly as possible. Also I race in Wakefield sometimes during winter which does reach near freezing temps haha.

Definitely it's possible to just delete the thermostat, especially during warmer months and if running on 0W-30/40 but it's always better for the car to have one and warm up faster, than to warm up slower if there's a relatively cheap, available and easy to install option.

Yep that's right. I'll even ask if it's possible to get a small discount if we order at least 5+

I've updated the first post to include a list of who wants one and where. If we don't get anymore by Thursday I'll just put through the order with Andy and get the quotation for shipping.

All good. I'll get the final price probably tomorrow when Andy wakes up.

I looked at the shipping quote via Economy postage on the BMS website of their sport oil cooler valve and it was USD$18.

Update!

Got a really good shipping price and also if we get at least 10+ he's willing to give us a 15% discount on the price of each unit.

I'll be ordering tomorrow with a minimum of 10 units. I have no doubts that even if we don't get 10 by tomorrow morning I'll be able to sell the last 2 units at a later date.

I will confirm the exact price of each unit and shipping once I receive the PayPal invoice tomorrow that way I can work out exchange rate into AUD etc. Pretty sure shipping to Melbourne from Sydney for a small box of thermostats will be minimal as well. Most likely the price shipped for each unit will be slightly under USD$40 which is a great deal.

Count me in IF it's applicable to N55 M135i/M235i too.

The website doesn't specify it. Can you ask the seller?

No worries. I've asked Andy if it's compatible. Will let you know his response as soon as I get it.

It should fit, realoem confirms they use the same oil filter housing on N54/N55 E9x/E8x/F2x/F3x

Can I please get everyone to PM me their name, email and location and I'll create a spreadsheet so I can keep track of everything and send out bank details once I have the final price.

Cheers!
