Against my wiser judgement I installed my vrsf charge pipe and mmp dci out in much hotter weather than I was expected. What a bitch that charge pipe is. And I'm not 1000% confident on it never popping off. At this point it was tighten everything up and hope for the best or possibly lay down on the street and pass out lol

Got my box of Porterfield brake pads. All fronts; one set of R4 (full race/track pad) and one set of R4-S (street pad with similar compound). The brake pedal has been getting long (same effectiveness, just less resistance and longer travel) after a few hard laps on a track, but there are no mechanical abnormalities (fluid is fine, pads aren't glazing, and rotors have appropriate material transfer and are fairly new). Going to run a session or two this weekend on the current EBC YellowStuff's, then (maybe) switch to the R4 and see if there's an improvement. I also did more DSC module coding since the last track day, which may also help (hence me sticking with the EBC's a little longer). I was originally concerned with fitment, since the R4's didn't have the silver "ears" or a separate backing plate like the R4-S's did (and all the other F30 pads), but they fit in fine.

In other news; the car now has just over 176k miles. Still chugging along, uneventfully...

Ha ha, yeah. I pulled my intake manifold on Friday to clean my valves - over a warm engine. Got everything apart only to find that the Harbor Freight media blaster I bought didn't actually blast any media. Pissed wasn't the word....

Note to self, test everything from HF tools prior to planned usage.

Quick question that does not really apply to my car (N51) but I am curious. When you are doing walnut blasting, how do you keep the media from going into the cylinder? Do it with the valve closed is obvious but then do you have to vacuum up the pieces or blown them out with compressed air? If a piece makes its way into the cylinder, will it damage anything or is it soft enough that it just goes out the exhaust port without an issue?

I searched on ebay for "walnut blast n54" and found several vacuum cleaner adapters that fit the ports.... may have to pick one up

This guy sells them - I bought mine from him. Just 3D printed plastic, cheap....but it works and you'll only probably use it once.

Yeah, pull intake manifold. Rotate engine until one cylinder has the valves closed then tape off the other ports to avoid shells getting in them. Media blaster has a pipe (nozzle) on it which goes through a small hole in a vacuum adapter. Put adapter on the intake port you want to clean, poke the blaster "nozzle" through the hole in the adapter and blast while vacuuming.
I imagine a small amount doesn't hurt, just don't "walnut lock" it.
