Gauge install

I am planning to install 3 gauges in the ash tray location using the Macht Snell piece. I need to confirm a few things:
The best I can see for water temp is to install the sender in a boss that goes in a cut coolant hose. Not my preferred solution, but I don’t see another reasonably easy way. I think the top hose would be the hottest coolant coming out of the head, going into the top of the radiator, but I’m am hoping someone knows 100% that is the correct spot.
Boost or Boost and Vac? I have an N54 and can tap into the charge pipe. Will I see vac as well as boost? I figure when off boost, I should see vac, but I want to be sure as it will impact which gauge I buy.

Thanks in advance for any help

There's a lot of ODB II gauge options out there now where you don't have to run separate wiring for gauges or cut the dash. Check out this thread...

Maybe you'll find something to your liking with either the ultragauge or the P3 gauge.

Thanks. I considered that approach, but actually like the look of real analog gauges. Ashtray location may not be the best location, but I think it works. I’m planning on oil press, water temp and boost/vac.

Maybe you can lead the way and get a prototype made for the top of the dash via 3D printer...
