Basic BMW 128i Coupe vs. Loaded Altima Coupe 3.5SE
I haven't been on this forum since pricing!! But now I'm back for a little. I recently test drove an Altima Coupe, which I was very impressed with. It handled very well with the horsepower being present always!! I am very disappointed in the 128i price, but I have realized I could get a 128i Coupe with 'ette, power seats, automatic, and Jet Black. The pricing would be a little more than the Altima but it is a BMW. What do you guys think? Please state reasoning.

Its really the difference of purchasing a purpose built driver's car that puts a lot of engineering emphasis on chassis, brakes, engine configuration and smoothness versus a car based on a garden variety entry level front wheel drive platform thats meant to look good while driving well enough to keep your attention for a short while but become insignificant after about a year if its lucky. Hows that for a run on sentence..... Anyway, after all this if you go settle on an Altima, as nice as the 3.5 is you will see a 128 or 135 on the road someday and a small part of you will regret that you bought the Altima while the person in the 1 won't even know you're there.

uggh. Please refer to the other painful thread you started a few months ago on the same topic. Drive ANY BMW made in the last few years, and then drive the Altima. Then you will know the difference.

Don't go with the BMW for the image of owning a BMW, go with it because it is a better built Ultimate Driving Machine. But in your case, go with the Altima.

I've driven the E90 328i automatic and it feels sluggish and underpowered. I wouldn't get a 128i without a stick shift. I think Edmunds compared the new Altima and Accord coupes and preferred the Honda.

my dad has the 328xi. when the car was still fairly new, it was slow and a hunk of shit. the car is broken in nice now with a bit over 4,000 miles and its actually pretty powerful. i love the engine. it sounds and performs great. with the lighter load in the 128i, it should be a pretty powerful car. |

Gosh this is a BMW forum. Im sure if you posted on a Nissan forum it would be a one sided poll also. Hard to get a honest opinion on either forums I would imagine. But I would go 128i. LOL.

An Altima Coupe is never going to be an enthusiast car; it's a competitor for the Accord coupe and Toyota Solara, both of which are for mentally old people that want "just a whiff" of amusement, not even anything exciting. If you need a Nissan, get a 350Z, much more fun!

Id go 135i and spend that little bit more.. I own a japanese car now.. but it depends on what you are looking for.. reliability.. and overall functionability yes go with the japanese for the price but if you are looking for luxury, brand, and a different experience, not to mention RWD then please go BMW.. and if you wanted spend nothing better then an award winning twin turbo ^_____^
