Nice picture of my car.....

Thanks to the wonderful red light camera they have installed down the street from my office.

I called them, I didn't come to a complete stop before making my right hand turn.

No fighting this, the guy on the phone was like, sir I just watched the video. you didn't stop.

Traffic camera's are against Florida state law, which trumps local county and town laws, and you can get out of them quite easily. But some places have found a loop hole and made it a city ordinance law that they can still get you on, but it's a small fine. I had run ins with cops in Gulf Breeze, FL and with their traffic cams and I got out of it every time.

The problem is that you weren't going fast enough.

I've always wanted to install a motor with a switch that would let me flip my license plate at will.

next time to tell them Fxxx off. If there is not traffic coming to your way, it should be no problem. Who would really do the complete stop unless you dont know how to drive and idiot.

Try something like this... This is the first link that comes up with licence plate blocker, there are many more products. I have heard it works but never tried it myself. Good Luck I am glad Michigan hasn't gone to these yet. I would be screwed.

Holy sh*t. So the red light camera still around USF is no joke. I'm up there all the time visiting my girlfriend that goes to USF. I thought red light cameras were only for running through red lights, not making illegal right hand turns; that sucks. I usually just roll though when I'm making right hand turns on reds. I guess I'll be a little more careful around there from now on!

Great Idea! Tell them to "Fxxx off" even though he broke the law and they have the pictures and video to prove it.

Save your money. They tried these products on Mythbusters and they were all bogus. Cameras are better than your eyes. If you can read the plate, the camera certainly can. They also tried to out run a camera with pure speed - that didn't work either.

What would be really cool is to have an LCD screen on your bumber that usually projected a lisence plate - except whenever you told it not to or whenever it sensed an infrared or laser light. I got to patent these things.

No right turn on reds? I am not familiar with FL traffic laws but in CA you can make right on reds unless a sign specifically says not to. Oh you didn't stop.. Man that must be a boring as hell job sitting there looking at videos all day.

You can might a right on red but I didn't come to a complete stop before crossing the white line and thats where they got me, when I see traffic turning the way it was in the picture I usually yield to people making U-Turns but I dont stop.

I got one of those in TX last year. They had the video on the website and sure enough, I didn't come to a stop. It specifically states it doesn't matter who is driving, the fee is being charged to the owner. Rental agencies and the like can sign an affidavit and state that someone else was driving at the time, but that's the only case (at least here). Considering it was only $75 and didn't go on my record, I couldn't see the value in hiring a lawyer and trying to fight it, which is exactly what they want. Sucks, but that's life.

I got pulled over by a cop for rolling a stop sign in my neighborhood. I was turning right, there was no one (but the cop) around and I just didn't quite stop. Now that sucked, it cost a lot to take care of that one.

Yeah thats what the pic said .

Not saying I wasnt in the wrong and that I shouldnt get a ticket if they felt they wanted to give it to me. It just sucks all around.

In regards to red light cameras and fighting the tickets you get, this may be a loophole:

Since a ticket can't be written against a car, it has to be issued to a person. Well, the attorney-client privilege extends to married couples. If you get a ticket, you CAN argue that you weren't driving (unless they have your face on camera, which some cameras can do now). If they ask who else may have access to the car to drive, you then tell them you cannot violate an attorney-client priviledge. It's sorta like pleading the 5th, except it would be your spouse you are constitutionally protected to not incriminate.

Just a thought.

BTW, the unconstitutional aspect to these kind of tickets has been challenged in DC (probably more, but I don't know), but everytime the cases are struck down. So even in the US in some cases, you're guilty until proven innocent.

They treat these differently than traffic tickets. The fine is against the car in essence, not the driver. It's probably like a parking ticket as far as the law is concerned. The owner of the car is responsible, regardless of who's driving. That's why there are no points on your license or anything like that.
